  4. This is a common practice on Apple Believes Someone Is Behind Psystar · · Score: 5, Insightful

It's not unusual to add unknown defendants to an action where all the tortfeasors are not known yet. This is simply a precautionary measure to ensure that Apple can bring a claim for damages against a party unknown to them should, through out the course of the proceedings, it is found that an unnamed defendant arises. By not adding an unknown party, would leave them in a situation where they would have to reinitiate the process from the start. As someone stated earlier it's simply a case of covering all bases.

  5. Games must be optimized on NVIDIA Makes First 4GB Graphics Card · · Score: 1

Doesn't matter how much RAM they pump into these things, the game ultimately has to be optimized to leverage the new memory. If you check most benchmarks in Tom's Hardware, you'll see no significant gains and potentially a loss if the game or driver's aren't optimized to take advantage of the new memory.

  14. You don't need Skype for voice communications on EBay Mulling Skype Sale · · Score: 5, Insightful

Ebay originally believed that Skype would oil the wheels of its online markets by making communications easier between buyers and sellers If there was a viable business model here, I would imagine that phone numbers, along with the shipping name and address, would have already been part of the personal information that would have been available after an auction was won. Skype would have only added some mild anonymity. Honestly, I think that most people prefer the impersonal interaction of e-Bay.

"...just imagine how accurate a search could be if every time you had a query, the mass of data about you that exists on the Internet could inform the results." Yes, Google Ads do this to a limited extent by trying to determine what you're interested in by your search and email content. However, for the most part, it's doubtful that most people would knowingly want to share this information for this purpose it was intented for as the line is too blurry between helpful tool and opportunities to spam.
