  2. Bad Keyboard or Bad Life Style? on Microsoft Study Says Repetitive Strain Injury Costs $600m · · Score: 1

I don't know if this is so much an issue with bad or unhealthy hardware as it is people's lack of basic fitness. I work in an IT shop, and see a lot of guys in their early to mid 20's complaining about bad wrists, elbows, shoulders, backs, etc. Some are even complaining about arthritis already. They drop serious cash on ergonomic chairs, mice and keyboards, wristbraces, everything.

So what do they do once they leave work? They go home and sit in front of their home computer for another 5 hours before going to bed, coming back to work, and doing the same thing again the next day. Yet a lot of my other coworkers (ranging in age from 20's to 40's) who regularly exercise seem to be void of these problems.

I try to make it a point to at least step out for a short lunch and spend some time at home in the evenings doing something other than sitting on the couch or in front of the PC. The human body is not designed (or has evolved, whatever your point of view is :)) to spend all day slouched in a chair typing or clicking away at a terminal. Take some time to step away from the keyboard and get some exercise. My mother has worked as a typist for the last 35 years (with periods of months of 12 hour work days) and has less health problems than half the early twenty year olds in the office who spend most of their time in front of their comptuer. Why? She works outside on the weekends and gets some basic exercise. If you neglect the human body, it deteriorates. Don't be suprised that you have back and wrist problems if your butt never leaves your computer chair. You can take a few minutes a day away from your computer and work without it being counter-productive.

It's not your bad keyboard or small monitor's fault you can't take basic care of yourself.

Sometimes I think people jump to conclusions a little to fast. You botched the installation, therefor it's Microsofts fault and they lose you as a customer. That really makes no sense.

  11. Garrison Evolution Theory on Correcting Misperceptions About Evolution · · Score: 1

Actually, I thought Ms. Garrison summed it up quite nicely.

Ms. Garrison: All right, kids, it is now my job to teach you the theory of evolution. Now I, for one, think evolution is a bunch of *bullcrap*! But I've been told I have to teach it to you anyway. It was thought up by Charles Darwin and it goes something like this:
In the beginning, we were all fish. Okay? Swimming around in the water. And then one day a couple of fish had a retard baby, and the retard baby was different, so it got to live. So Retard Fish goes on to make more retard babies, and then one day, a retard baby fish crawled out of the ocean with its mutant fish hands... and it had butt sex with a squirrel or something and made this...
[she points to a prehistoric mammal rodent]
Ms. Garrison: ...retard frog-sqirrel, and then *that* had a retard baby which was a... monkey-fish-frog... And then this monkey-fish-frog had butt sex with that monkey, and that monkey had a mutant retard baby that screwed another monkey... and that made you!

So there you go! You're the retarded offspring of five monkeys having butt sex with a fish-squirrel! Congratulations!

What's sad is I think this is the perception a lot of people have about evolution. It amazes me how many people (both educated and not) think it's a completely crack-pot theory. I don't expect everyone to believe it, but a basic understanding of it shouldn't be so hard to get.

Quick, label everyone a bigot who points out that despite being labeled a religion of peace, nearly all terrorists around the world are Islamic, and at least one side of almost every conflict being fought on our planet is Muslim. Of course, those are just simple facts, so saying them makes me a bigot too, doesn't it Simple facts? Citation needed. Should we go over atrocities committed in the name of Christianity throughout history? Does that inherintly make all Christians bad? No, so why does the same have to apply to Islam and its followers?

Muslims will take to the streets in riots when some Danes draw cartoons of Mohammed Because it was a violation of their religion. Remember what happened when "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" was published? Uproar. Why? Because a basic fundamental rule of their religion was broken.

The reason I point these out is that your argument can be applied to any religion, anywhere, anytime. Any educated person knows the difference between a Muslim and a terrorist. The same for Christians for that matter. Catholic Priest doesn't necessarily mean child molester.

The above comment seems to be more intent on blaming the religion, not the skewed, perverted interpretation that the extremists follow.

If Muslims are truly opposed to these activities, why aren't they protesting day after day, saying, "Not in our name!"? They do. The reason you don't see it over there is because the minute this happens, they're executed. You're more apt to bring change if you're not dead.
