The best SF on TV right now is over on Showtime. It's called Odyssey 5 and stars Peter Weller. It's about a Shuttle crew that is in orbit when the Earth is destroyed. They encounter a strange alien, who's homeworld was also destroyed in the same manner, that sends them back in time five years to attempt to discover what happened and prevent it. It is very reminiscent of Babylon 5 in tone and the overriding arc. Great writing and really interesting characters.

There are, admidittedly many things that I don't know. However, the biggest perplexing question I have right now is, "Why the Hell are the liberals so against moving agaist Iraq?!?!?!" I mean, if Hussein was a liberal or even a moderate conservative, I would understand the liberal position on Iraq. As it stands, it makes no sense. Saddam Hussein is a brutal dictator that has slaughtered wholesale many thousands of his own people. He has been pursuing a nuclear weapons program despite UN regulations prohibiting him from doing so. And, what should be second most reprehensible to liberals, he has diverted money for humanitarian aid from the people who it was intended for to himself, his cronies, and his weapons program. By all rights and means, liberals should have already put together a strike team by themselves and gone in and removed him.

Money is not the problem. The problem is that the government sucks at teaching kids. As for the federal government "raping" all of the money from schools to "bomb Iraq" and fund "star wars," it's not the federal government's job to educate our kids. The farther removed the money for schools is from the schools themselves, the less effective it is. I fully support folding the Department of Education. That and busting teachers' unions. There's a reason that the teachers' unions don't want vouchers, they know that when the vouchers start, they'll be held accountable for their performance.

I don't see the advantage of the tablet PC thing (except for vertical markets). As I see it, Microsoft is merely attempting to manufacture a market that doesn't exist. It's all hype, but Microsoft will get credit for it when everyone wants one (why? because it's "new" and "cool"). I say thee FEH!

Actually, I think the last part would be:

    User: How much $$$$$$$
    Admin: A LOT of $$$$$$$
    User: Isn't there another way?
    Admin: Nope.
User: I guess we can wait on collaboration.

Really, the biggest issue with Exchange is its price. It, because MS have a lock on the market, is entirely over priced for what it is and how well it works. Of course, you could go with Notes, but that would necessitate going with something other than Outlook. Fat chance the suits would go for that. OpenMail was choice, but HP couldn't seem to get it off the ground, unfortunately. Currently, I'm evaluating PHPGroupWare. So far so good. I figure that in a month or so, I'll reccommend it to a client and see how it goes.

As for Exchange support. Well, if you call the following (real) exchange (no pun intended) support, then I'll eat my hat. When I worked for a market leading software development company in IT, we upgraded from Exchange 5.0 to 5.5. It locked up at least once a day. After several days of troubleshooting, we burned a support call to Microsoft (not cheap). This is the jist of the call:

Us: Yeah, we just upgraded to Exchange 5.5 and it locks up at least once a day. All other services on the server are fine, but Exchange just stops.

MS Support: Well, have you uninstalled and reinstalled Exchange?

    Us: Yeah.

MS: Have you restored the Information Store from a previous backup?

    Us: Yeah.

MS: Well, just reboot the server once a day. That's what we do here.

Yeah, THAT's support. We ended up downgrading back to 5.0.

These are restrictions, not additional rights. Granted, they're pretty cool restrictions, but restrictions nonetheless.
