    That was the various Star Trek:TLA.

    Star Trek itself lacked the basic continuity to have such a problem . . .

    It was about the story, rather than wasting large portions on the "relationships" between the characters. Besides, none of them could act well enough to pull off such episodes :)

    For that matter, I'm not sure that Star Trek would have worked at all if they could act; the wooden and cliched overacting left the story in control . . .

    There is a very. Simple reason the federation has no fighters.

    It's the same reason they *do* have transporters.

    They didn't have the special effects budget to land a ship each week, so they came up with the transporters, which became plot crutches in something like 20% of the episodes in the spinoffs (those tha happened, anyway, and weren't wiped out by a time travel plot crutch, or Commander Cleavafe "sensing" something [Those were disturbingly like Lassies ability to notify folks tha Timmy was in the well, surrounded by 3 members of a gang, all carrying leaky dynamite . . .])

    Some folks carved out a spot for a a fifth AA to run them
    on 5 nicads to get the 6v of four gular AA.

    Some of us just ran them on 4 nicads, significantly improving battery life . . .

    I bought them from owc for my MacBook about a year ago.

    They now sell 8g modules, at least for the new iMacs (bit they're unGodly expensive, more than $1k each when imchecked a few weeks ago)

    That predates the XT by a couple of generations.

    The Model I TRS-80, for example, had only 7 bits of video memory. To conver to upper case, you glued another 2102 on top of one, soldered 14 of the pins to the chip below, and ran the other two by wire.

    There was anothernhack, iirc, that did this with even two extra chips on top of each main ram chip, allowing expansion from 16k to 48k in the main unit rather than an external "expansion interface." (yes, odd as it sounds today, the extra ram was close to a foot of wire away).

    I doubt it's only here, as we got this from our former imperial overlords :)

    Civil & criminal are pretty much unrelated in this regard. The older rule I mention is from the Common Law, and would also be the case inAustralia unless you've specifically replaced it.

    Summer school between seventh & eighth grades.

    Boy were my teachers happy about not having to read my handwriting any more . . .

    I used to be abled to do 100wpm on a manual. I can't hit those speeds any more, but I'm still fast enough that some people haven't believed I w actually typing until they looked at the screen.

    Ive only had one secretary who could type faster than I do (and she used to compete [seriously!])

    Anyway, everyone is missing the most important thing here: how would we play nethack without qwerty keyboards? Movement just wouldn't make sense!

    Yikes. Comes from being a touch-typist using an iPad.

    It has hard-core auto-"correct"

    You must deny jurisdiction in every pleading--the first one in which you do not is a consent to jurisdiction.

    I am an attorney, but this is not legal advice, and does not apply to your situation. If you want advice, pay my retainer.

    Generally, responding at all confers jurisdiction, even if there was none to start with.

    According to the opinion, spamhaus responded, and then changed it's mind.

    Under traditional rules, all that could be done was contest jurisdiction, and any other act consented to jurisdiction (my civil procedure prof actually suggested using a letter rather than regular pleadings for good measure).

    Under modern federal rules, and in most states, everything Canberra done at once--BUT you must deny Judie it croon in every pleading, or else.

    Sent to soon. I wanted to add that I liked the use of "eigenvalue"; it fits the appropriate distinct solutions.

    In some cases, such as (then) sun and open office, the "viral" is the profit maximizing source, while in others, A "public" license is a better choice.

    In both cases, though, it can be profit-maximizing to send fixes back upstream.

    If you search for "hawkins economics open source" you'll find various versions of the paper that I published on this several years ago, which analyzes various license classes for the competitive firm, complete with game theoretic models and payout tables.

    It published in Netnomics, but I had to assign the copyright, so I can't hand it out ): (only publishing in journals without such a requirement is a luxury for the tenured)

    There's also the "backyard" problem.

    I don't know about your neighbors, but mine would be quite angry over launching even a Mercury class rocket from mine . .

    Also, it would be awfully rough on the tomatoes and berry bushes. The melons and corn, too, I suppose, but to he'll with them; they just sucked water and didn't produce.
