    hmm, according to that same article your write performance should also be in the 60MB/s area... unless mirror really affects writing badly, i have never heard as such but i've never really looked into it, but it would surprise me if your write speeds were really that low.

    jw how does Avira compare to Avast! ...?

    been using Avast! for awhile and it works great, never noticed any slowdowns, but if someone has a link to any kind of article that compares the two i would be interested.

    simply saying "it works better/faster because i know it does" will not convince me.

    yes, american minutes count up whether u made the call or not, if u are connected than it's counting the minutes.

    they should just have capacitors (or whatever) on/in the bikes that store up energy whenever brakes are used, then when the bike is returned, all the bikes all stored energy can be released back onto the grid, perhaps which could then be transfered as credit or whatever and give a discount for renting the bike.

    heck, maybe if u ride enough you could make money by way of power generation

    lol thats funny. i went to a community college and profs could determine how many times you could take an online quiz, a lot of them just set the limit to 0 (infinite, obviously) so u could take over and over again not even "cheating"

    shows how far our education has come :D lol

    Errr, re-read the article there, the sample never WAS E. coli. E coli was the food source for the bacteria, and multiple times it's stated that the bacteria evolved a new trait. new trait != new species. it's still bacteria, it just has a new genetic ability. it's evolutionary, but it isn't enough to convince anyone (with a critical mind) of complete evolution.

    it's not a whole different food source, it's just an extra part (ingredient? chemical? piece?) of a food source (the ONLY food source) it was already metabolizing, now it's just metabolizing more of it, or more completely... or something.

    i do realize how significant and cool for science this is, but it's still just bacteria. it just got a new genetic ability.

    it's still just bacteria, just now a little better. we already knew that this kind of micro evolution happens. it's not the kind of evolution that proves anything significant. at least not yet.

    seriously, the size is not that amazing (i have 1 gig flash that is same size, i got it for free)

    and neither is the price, just look around newegg if u catch a good deal u can get 4gig flash for 18~24 $USD (free shipping is hard to find but sometimes its there)

    if it was capable of some insane amazing read/write speeds and still that size and still that cost... THEN i might be a little impressed. but it would have to be some really SWEET speeds... if it was great speeds with both tons of small files and a single large file

    never adopted pidgin, i still use GAIM 1.5, it does everything i need, and the default emoticons are much less... gay? (and i bet you thought this was going to be about overlords)
