    If this is true, what is your conclusion as to why the RI/MPAA don't court the pirates? Free advertising is free advertising after all.

But how can it really be that a story about rockets and moon gets, at the time of my posting, only 24 comments while a story about private schooling gets well over 600? Have all the nerds looking for news gone elsewhere?

    You wouldn't want just any Jerome Doe being able to write prescriptions for norepinherine would you? At the very least you would want prescribers to be proven knowledgeable the hemodynamic effects of the medications they are ordering to be put into your body, right? That is the very reaon licensing of professionals exist! Why shouldn't the same stipulations be put upon those who prescribe solutions for your computing devices given that those devices are increasingly required just to survive in todays society?

    Real Syrians want the US gone. Now personally, I'm okay with Syrians just as long as they are willing to listen to non-Syrian views. I'm willing to listen to their viewpoints, why aren't they as open to mine? I'll even give a preview....free drugs, free sex, and free religion. I'm willing to listen to their views of freedom as well.

    There is no need to be terrified of a government where there is democracy and a public that is well informed of its activities.

    Unless, of coure, the majority of the public doesn't like the minority to which you belong. In many countries, for example, you still can become a criminal for ingesting a substance that the majority doesn't approve of.

    "Normal" people want to turn the device on, watch their movie, then turn the device off until they want to use it again. Sure, you and I might think about the necesity to keep our soft/firmwares up to date...but that really isn't very normal.

    How is this obvious? You are not proposing that movie theaters be allowed to be havens for criminals, are you? Besides, wouldn't video evidence of copyright violaters only strengthen claims against them in court?

    Even though I am probably among the most anti-police state there is yet I still have to wonder...how do you police a situation when you have no power to police it? Yes, I know there are times this power is abused and that abuse should be severely punished. But to tell the police they can not police seems a bit ludicrous to me.

    The one thing that "software for money" has yet to proved is the protection of users privacy. What is the shakedown fee imposed by closed source software that guarantees non-disclosure? Today it seems that even if you pay for privacy some for profit business will eagerly take more to reveal information.
