who was being sued in not that dis-similar situation by a well known RTS series publisher.
One of the things we were being accused of was direct copyright infringement. Apparently, we had a copy of a file named EXACTLY THE SAME as they had on their CD.
Setup.exe
Never underestimate the stupidity of the courts/lawyers in technical matters.
Far from it, but I cringe every time anyone promotes XP as a positive alternative to vista, because the security model in XP is 100x time worse than Vista.
XP has NEVER been a solid O/S. The default install positively encourages you to run as admin always, with the obvious repercussions for security. It is a horribly broken product.
I still don't understand while people are pining for XP over vista. Vista is a (very poor) attempt to fix this, obviously, given UAC's encouragement of blindly clicking any warning to allow things to happen, but it's a whole load better than XP.
Yes, because XP is even more poorly designed than Vista when it comes to managing admin rights.
No user should ever run as a local admin, even in XP. They should use RunAs to escalate privilege when needed. I would never trust my CEO with local admin rights. They're just install some variation of a britney spears virus.
The sooner XP disappears, the better.
Hitting a child was *always* illegal in NZ. There was a defense in law for a parent of 'reasonable chastisement'. This has recently been removed.
The crown failed to show criminal intent. (see above).
Not true. MSDN licensing specifically excludes non-development work, i.e, using Corporate email on a O/S licensed under MSDN.
Mod Parent up!!
Never went to trial; the smaller company went bust first. Legal fee's probably didn't help.

and a WRT54GL cost me $100 (NZD) so i'm assuming it's $60-70 USD and with DD-WRT will do what you want and more.
firmwares. It would help to know what router you have.
yet only in June do they issue new pins? Nice.

He won't get parole if he doesn't not freely accept he commited his crimes, mind.
Bass fishing? In New Zealand?
I only use Vista on a htpc, and the bottom line, is file copying is horrendously broken. I don't much care for it one way or another.
Anyone know?

but at least is there. The sooner XP and always-administrator users who use it disappear the better for the net at large.
When did Hussein bomb the US directly? You do know that Iraq was a US client state when they invaded Iran, right?
Does it bypass the bitlocker/full drive encyption options in vista? Physical access is not always game over....
button still do exactly that?
I can understand why you wouldn't want to live in Carson City, but not why you'd choose to live in Reno instead *shudder*
The latest release is called 8.04. The release before was called 7.10. What is your point?
