iOS has always been one of the shittier mobile OSes. Even if it was the most technically advanced at launch, the artificial limitations hobbled it so that it could never hope to be as good as the more open mobile OSes that used to exist. Now it's still just as closed (and thus shitty) on top of being technically inferior to Android (which is still too closed for my taste).
Wind turbines only fail in high winds if something is wrong with them (unless the entire structure gets knocked over somehow). A correctly operating wind turbine will adjust the blade pitch to either shut down safely or continue operating in high winds.
I've set up quite a few average lusers with Ubuntu machines who don't know what a CLI is or how to open a terminal window. It took a good bit of CLI work up front for most of them but now I don't need to touch those computers.
The first episode of Terra Nova is probably the best look at the future of our society as it's headed now. It would have been interesting to spend at least one more episode in the "present."
Don't compare AGW denial with trepanation, that actually did save some people's lives. Witch-burning or bleeding with leeches is probably a better comparison.
And since lots of you tree hugger types have helped the planet have more trees in more recent years than logger years of past, there's really no problem.

You don't really buy those arguments about screen size do you? The push towards native apps has little to do with usability, web apps are easy to reformat for smaller screens...follow the money.
