It doesn't take gerrymandering to keep Democrats in control of Maryland when voter registration skews 2-1 in favor of the Democrats.
It's actually a surprise that the Republicans hold the edge in voter registration in one of those districts. In every other one it is heavily Democratic.
They have to have fairly equal number of people in each district so it will naturally require carving up the big population centers which are heavily skewed Democrat.
It's not like the Electoral College where voters from rural-centric states get far heavier representation. If you are.a rural voter in Maryland you don't get more representation for your vote.
I read it again, it doesn't say "for the rest of the year". It said they are "at 99.5% for all of 2018" but they aren't. They are at 85% for 2018 and maybe that will improve or maybe it will get worse.
All of 2018 only consists of a bit under 13 days so far. That's all there is to 2018 as of today.
Trump's base of support is rural America and that is who the USPS is subsidizing.
They also subsidize shipping to member of the military and state department employees overseas. Shipments to an APO box are a prime example. Go to a US embassy overseas and the number of packages from Amazon and Walmart are amazing. All thanks to paying no more to ship a package via the USPS to Iraq than it costs to ship to Los Angeles.
Deliver 1 package to my house a day for $5, lose money. Drop off 10 packages a day at my house for $40 and you can make money.
Same with your local ice cream shop, raising prices because they aren't making money isn't necessarily a way to profitability. It is entirely possible that if they dropped prices they could increase business enough to become profitable.
I think they cover that sort of stuff in an actual MBA program.
The UPS trucks rolls down the two lane rural road then up the 1/4 mile dirt road to my parent's farmhouse and drops off packages all the time. They do have surcharges for many zip codes to reflect the higher cost of delivery but it is false to state that they "don't deliver to most of the rural US"
Raising prices isn't how it "is supposed to work". If it was, making money would be easy. Open a store, keep raising prices until you make a profit.
Amazon charges $0 for a lot of their shipping and they are making money despite charging less for shipping than the cost of shipping.
USPS isn't subsidizing Amazon, they are offering a service at a price and Amazon and every other person who ships items through the USPS pays that price. That the USPS overall is losing money is more complex than what they charge Amazon and other shippers.
Hmm, if only Bitcoin had a transparent way of getting your transactions priority increased without needing to collude with miners.
Those Bitcoin miners are connected to the sellers by virtue of taking a fee to process transactions and those offering the highest fee get [preference for inclusion in a block.
If you work for an unenlightened employer who doesn't have a written policy to pay out accrued vacation when you leave then you should treat them likewise, give no notice and plan your departure to be on the day you would have returned to work after using all your vacation
Likewise with any employer that says they want two weeks notice but reserve the right to give you no notice before laying you off. At the end of your last work day hand HR your resignation letter that says "Due to your under-performance as an employer I am laying you off effective immediately".
Bring up the possibility of your departure and they might realize their best strategy is to start the search now and when they find the right person kick you out the door. Or they bring in someone much cheaper and direct you to train your replacement.
Stop worrying about what happens to the company if you get hit by a bus or retire, you aren't being paid to solve their management problems. So do your job and retire when you want, with two weeks notice. If they are real dummies and don't plan ahead you can offer to come back as a contractors for 10-20 hours a week at 4x your current salary on a per hour basis.
So you don't have to reach into your cloth flap every time you get a text message, read your message and stow it back in your cloth flap.
Sort of the same reason watches migrated from being kept in cloth flaps to being worn on wrists once the size of a watch shrunk to the point it fit on a wrist.
A Tesla can use a J1772 charge station. Just use the J1772 adapter that comes with your Model S/X. Don't know if it comes with a Model 3 but easy enough to buy.
Non-Tesla cars that have J1772 charge ports can also use Tesla (non-Supercharger) charge stations with an adapter.
Commercial owners are perfectly free to install their own low cost charging station or charge at any available publicly available L2 charging station or contract with Tesla to install a private Supercharger.
There are plenty of places for Tesla owners to charge their car other than Superchargers.
It isn't "cutting them off cold" and it only applies to anyone who purchases a Tesla after a specific date so it isn't cutting off any existing owners either. If you want to buy a Tesla for business use then plan on keeping your vehicle charged some other way, if you don't like that then don't but a Tesla.
You don't need a fast charger to "fuel up". Most people are happily charging at home and every morning their car is fully charged.
Routinely using a fast charger would be as painful as having to drive to a gas station and pump gas.
Hydrogen is too inefficient which makes it too expensive. $14 for the equivalent of 1 gallon of gas and MPGe ratings 1/2 that of pure electric vehicles.
There are no short haul aircraft that are also used to fly 6 hours.
But Norway thanks you for your expertise
The B52 is still being flown but is not in production. It hasn't been in production since 1962.

I think you need a new calculator
You can do the approximate math in your head. Down 45 hours is approx 2 days and we are 13 days into Jan. 20% of 13 days is 2.6 days.
They build roads and bridges too.
It isn't a matter of one or the other

You can make it up with increased volumes.

The Tesla Model 3 batteries are made in Nevada, which is in America.
A pickup needs to be cheap?
$50k+ pickups are common. Ford F250 SuperDuty Supercap with diesel engine starts at $44k
Tesla isn't going to be aiming at the stripper F150 market

$14/gallon equivalent for fuel
No EV advocate wants it to happen almost overnight, much less screaming about it.

When did Judge Moore start posting on Slashdot?
Since all the people getting accused and sued are men I'd suggest the risk involves hiring men.
No need to ban guns or Muslims, just ban men and build a wall to keep them out and crime would drop like a rock in the US.
If only we had the science to figure out if steam boosters could launch things into space economically or even at all.
