You just highlighted why people are distrustful of science and the trouble with "enlightenment". You would condemn all of humanity because they are morons who just take up space. Yet you see yourself as one that needs to take steps on behalf of all humanity. Then you scoff when people have the nerve to ask you why?
Trust is important. You'd think smart people like yourself would recognize the need to spread information and debate it throughout all of humanity, not just appoint yourself master and commander of the ship, because the rest of those dumb fucks are doing it wrong, and charge full speed ahead.
Actually the first release to the wild was in 2000 at the Professional Developers Conference. The first beta release of the framework followed very soon after. So developers could get their hands on it at that time. You are referring to the RTM release in 2002.
Your whole approach is typical and exactly why the whole issue is dismissed. As soon as someone says "well hey maybe life isn't fair" you attack the messenger instead of explaining why it should be fair.
I grew up on welfare to a single mom (once a programmer!) and fully "benefited" from being dirt poor in the Appalachians. I have no degree because at 18 I was already raising a kid of my own and simply couldn't. I got into the industry by starting at the bottom, ISP tech support, in 95. 15 years later and the only thing I'm guaranteed is that if I work my tail off someone will notice and give me work. I worked my way from minimum wage 15 years ago to a great living today by working my ass off and taking no hand outs. I don't "expect" anything outside of a paycheck that cashes.
Sorry "dude" but excuse me if I laugh at your whole assumption of privilege.
More like people should stop trying to make the whole world average. If a particular field has more men in it, who cares?
This just in, there are more female babysitters than males. Oh no, we have a babysitter gender gap!
Why does everything on the planet have to be "fair" in a way that's really not fair at all because it's actually just a contrived view of how "things should be" in some fantasy? And a better question, when are going to stand up to such nonsense and reject the whole premise that the world should be a statistical average reflecting a cross-section of all society?
Yeah I don't think people get how things have to be payed for. Either you pay for it willingly by purchasing it or you are taxed for it without a choice in the matter. Over and over I hear that the second "choice" is the best, that the government should handle everything and I should just be okay with it.
Some things are needed. Some things are not "needs" and broadband is one of them. If you want it then go purchase it. What exactly is broken with the current system? Does everything need to be socialized? Don't people understand that you are paying for it either way? Nothing is free. Pay for it via the government or pay for it via a corporation. Your choice. But stop pretending the socialized way is always better. The shit doesn't compute.
What a bunch of bullshit. My original post is modded overrated when it wasn't even modded up in the first place. This goddam place is too much sometimes.
Look at Bing's results and compare them to Google. It isn't some half-ass attempt at search anymore. People want results and don't care who delivers. Only the fanboys care which company wins.
It reeks of a good crack IMHO. Simple text magazines used to be the way details of such hacks were distributed. See Phrack as a good example of one still alive.
Also, what other brand of criminal distributes his techniques to the community and in turn his/her competition? Crackers are pretty unique in this.
Yes but we never give up. We will strive to be on top of this list no matter what it takes. Come rain, sleet or snow we will be leveraging our synergies, overcoming any obstacle to our dominance in the market of bullshit. Make no mistake.... We will not rest until that great land of bullshit has a US flag planted firmly in it's bung hole with some weasel counting the beans coming out of the "back end"!
Yeah my thoughts exactly. If you're a hacker make a fabber or CNC machine from it's parts (and some others of course). If not then donate it to someone that may want to do that. Local robotics clubs are usually filled with hackers that love to make such things. After all it's not too far from a typical robot in it's mechanics and electronics.
You wouldn't resign? I guess right and wrong don't factor into your decision. Because IMHO this was clearly the wrong thing to do, treating the government's computers as his own. It's not about contracts or the minutia of his job description, it's about doing the right thing and the right thing does not include spending "the people's" money on superfluous shit that doesn't directly benefit the people.
Just like every corporate worker has a responsibility to their share holders, government workers have a responsibility to serve the public's interest. It's called a public trust position. He broke that trust. So he needs to hit the road and be thankful if he doesn't get punished for misuse of government equipment.
Yeah you'll find this with any language dynamically typed. The irony of modern popular languages, such as c#, is that they are now incorporating this same dynamic typing. So we see the same errors pop up at runtime instead of compile time.
For instance some c# "var" statements may cause a runtime error if not written properly, but you'll never know until it's run. The power is great, but with that power comes responsibility to make sure you write it correctly. But IMO I'd rather go the other way towards a more mathematically "provable" state where we can ensure future success by our proof, ie type checking.
Of course that's just my dumb opinion. Seems a lot of languages these days are either dynamically typed or incorporate it somehow.

I bet yours is shaped in the form of a bong isn't it? Admit it fokker, you're on the pot!
Wow, I'm pretty sure that was the first public release then. PDC wasn't until July.

No No I totally agree. Also, women have an extra tendon in their leg.
My 15 years as a pro laughs at your paper on the wall and my six-figure salary says fuck your conclusions.

Why not a Bajillion? It's just as likely.
Chi Chi! Get the yayo!

Just stating the obvious - If Ginormous wasn't a word no one here would understand it.

So you're saying that because you go to Ubuntu's repositories and download applications that you are secure from malware?
Pass the pipe sir, I think I need a toke to make sense of that.
I really like Python typing. But then again Python makes a lot of sense where other languages stumble :-)
Sorry var is a bad example. Instead I should say something like a linq expression.

Fleshlight 2.0! Now with real meat!
I wish you would. Maybe get those bill collectors onto a new blood scent.
Ah thanks man. Here I was thinking I was born free but I'm glad you gave me permission anyway.
How's that for smug bitch?
