California sure is hell bent on strangling itself in regulations. I don't get the mentality. I consider myself green because I don't even own a car and ride a bicycle, hence my carbon footprint is very low. But I'm not buying into the "Opus Dei" mentality that is the modern green movement: self-punishment in the name of mother earth, our new god, and we deserve to suffer (by we I mean all of you).
I use process explorer from Sysinternals as my default, replacing the built-in task manager (windows). It can give me a basic virtual memory footprint or even more details if I drill down. A very useful tool for development and it beats task manager hands down.
I was gonna call bullshit but I opened Chrome here and Firefox with the same pages loaded. Firefox actually used less memory. Now that's not a scientific test or anything but it's enough for me.
I'm gonna mark this day on a calendar because this is fucking incredible.
You just pointed out the root problem: the world needs a big old dose of buck the fuck up. People will stereotype you, pigeon hole you, label you, etc. Who cares? Is it really reason enough to silence those people? Hardly.
Why is there so much outrage these days? Every source of debate seems to be summed up as "Your tone, it's all wrong!" Lighten up, sheesh. Legit problems should be the focus, not things related to personal egos.
You hit the nail right on the head. I'm currently reading the book "Masterminds of Programming" (http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596515171/) and this specific topic, concurrency, seems to be the biggest challenge out there according to the language creators they've interviewed. It's possible now to write code that runs across machines, but it's not so easy that it's pervasive in the industry. Maybe Languages like Go will help change that.
Yeah coming from the construction industry myself (a long time ago admittedly) I saw the strongest out there dominate the workforce.
Over the coming generations we'll see smarter people show larger personal gains than anyone that's simply physically fit or "alpha".
I would certainly agree with your last statement. I've seen some real assholes get away with stuff in the office world that would never fly in the blue collar world. They'd simply get their bell wrung. So people are a bit more "real" in blue collar than in the white collar world, in my experience.
Yes but if you're truly smart then you'll realize that being athletic isn't something to be avoided. It's something you strive for. A healthy body == a healthy mind. Discard those stereotypes and do yourself a favor. Put down the bag of chips and go for a walk. It will pay better dividends than anything you can ever learn.
Give the guy a break man. He just wants to protect the public. From themselves..
Prostitution is one of the few crimes that make a person a criminal if he/she sells something that is normally "free". Strange, but whatever. That "industry" is so frigging shady it begs to be regulated. But then we'd have to admit we like sex, so of course that's out of the question.
The majority of CIA employees are not field officers. Those are the minority, the elite of the CIA. The average CIA employee is just your standard manager/IT guy/whatever. But tell someone you work for the CIA and they assume you water board people for a living. That's why every employee has a cover story. That story is not to confuse foreign governments, but used to confuse the public who assumes every CIA employee is a "Boogeyman".
I would bet that most people would be quite underwhelmed if they saw the day to day at the CIA. That mystique is an advantage, and they like to use it to scare the bejesus out of people that would want to harm the US. But it works well.
Yeah, that sounds like the most likely scenario. It's not just piss poor code, no no. It's definitely a nefarious plan concocted by the Illuminati and put into action by the secret lab they have at Microsoft. First step - fuck up Firefox. Second step - Destroy national borders.
Too many movies makes you think strange things. For instance most people see the CIA as a bunch of bad asses with cell phone watches that project holograms of your dossier into thin air while sending you messages via ESP. Real life: rotary phones, paperwork in triplicate, and a gigantic fucking bureaucracy that thinks pagers are still useful.
Are you high man? It means threatening them with violence (a verbal attack). That means if I say I'm gonna fuck you up, that's assault. Now stfu and go get ya shine box ya mafucking troll.
Economically California is committing suicide. They block out vendors. Now use your imagination genius.

How did you determine the memory usage?

This is not offtopic.
Btw Ned, can you take the day off?

Someday, some geek will try to overclock his artificial heart...
He'll be following in the footsteps of the ones that already have, like coke and meth junkies.

Nah they'll help you. Whether you like it or not.
Heh, actually that's why I used the quotes. Nothing in this world is free, especially vagina.

Soon it will race the captain of the ski team to save the mountain from the giant corporation and get the fembot.

I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS!
Besides, next month we'll see the release of the next-gen "Cranny".
That's not a knife.. THIS is a knife (pulling out Kabar-based server)
I'll take "Things you should have thought about before selling to Sun" for 1000 Alex

Heh, you said penetrate.
I just think it's funny that you call them out for having a skewed point of view. The entire state. See the irony?
Now go get your shine box and shine those busted insults.
What can I say? I have a sick sense of humor.
Now fuck off
You read what everyone in the state of Texas says everyday? Where is this publication and how do I subscribe?
Uhm, actually it is. Unless you have another version you'd like to supply smarty pants.
assault: A violent physical or verbal attack.
