    So if the US is now gone enforce UN sanctions unilatral, whats the next stop, Israel ?
    They have about 62 UN resolutions they are ignoring (some since the 70's)
    They have Nukes
    Their civil right record isnt to clean
    And they sure as hell are destabilazing the whole region.

    Here in Belgium the gov wanted to ban postall 2 because you had to kill gay ppl. The gay organisations laughed at it and said they didnt see the point since you get to kill everybody and there is thus no discrimination :)

    Problem is the signal on DSL lines degrades fast, I have friends who cant get dsl cause they are to far from the switches (5km or so not sure of exact distance but not far), and as for normal land lines, I used to work for schlumberger in their european data center and and had to call to countries in the middle east fairly oftend, and i can tell you dont even think of sending data over those lines.

    reporters are using sat phones

    Yes but where i am sitting a some odd 100 linux/unix machines ar humming away behind the door infornt of me none of em will ever access google, but my laptop running windows (I have to run windows for some corporete apps and pollicy) will multiple times a day.
    While it is a some mesure for desktop acceptance it in no way shows the number of linux machines out there

    euh Marijuana is only tracable for about 14 days.
    I know lots of ppl who took drug tests for their job and passed.
    Didnt mean they didnt smoke pot, just means they where smart enough to stop for a few weeks.

    Couple that with European governments kneecapping their operators with insane 3G license fees
    The 3G was auctioned by the gov's, telco's have nobody to blame for those insane prices but themself

    Well the way apple treats its small resellers is much worse IMHO. I had a friend working in a smallish mac reseller and he said that if an iMac came back under waranty, the RMA costs would be higher then the profit on that box

    Did your read The NDA ? if so did it say you could not distibute the GPL'ed pieces of the distro ? if it didnt they did not break the GPL

    And further more since this is a CLOSED beta, they consider consider the ppl who got the distro agents of the company/organisation so no distribution has taken place so the GPL does not mater

    And about the spirit, its a CLOSED beta not a PUBLIC, like the P in GPL. And so far it also looks like they just want a limited tesing cycle, maybe they should have called it Final Alpha
    , and nobody would have minded the NDA

    This whole discusion is just hiar spliting, specultain and semanthics

    Since we dont know hat is in the NDa, we cant be certain
    The NDA could only cover the inhouse build stuff, in which case they can slap any restiction on they want.

    Then there is the whole since this is a closed beta, did any ditribution actualy took place question

    And the final question is, has any harm been caused to the spirit of GPL.

    It makes sense to me to not have UL in the open until it reaches a certain lvl of stability.
    This as a comercial ditribution and you would not want a buggy beta to get in the hands of some FUD spitting reviewer, hence the need for an NDA

    in my view : 100% in acordance with GPL ? No probly not
    Evil Intentions : doesnt smell like it
