The federal gov't would employ even more people. Let's give them Microsoft's OS biz. Bonus: disincentivizes other companies to create their anti-employment efficient companies.

Wall St. is suspiciously profitable with low headcount. Let's nationalize them too.

The U.S. continues to prove itself incapable of shaking off such middle ages thinking and it is time the rest of the world stopped listening to the hype about how it is ready to sit at the table. Let them continue to sit in Guantanamo if they like it so much.

Pogue goes slack-jawed whenever Apple adds so much as a sticker to its products, but when MS ships an entire OS he snarkshafts them like the Appleboi that he is. Now he's trying to make money off Microsoft? Guy's got chutzpah, man.

Failed BIOS flash. It took me a full day to try every permutation of hot-flashing (PC running) with a spare motherboard's chip, swapping between a boot CD and a floppy drive. Then it took me another day to swap motherboards and get everything functional again. My fancy, expensive motherboard is still sitting here awaiting a $20 BIOS chip.
