How can they watch instant messaging? Chat room conversation? To monitor either (and especially the latter) could easily violate privacy that they have no business violating. While people in Australia will be contacting other people in Australia, what about international conversation?
I, for one, have several contacts in my Buddy List who live in Australia, and the IRC channel that I regularly visit has it's fair share of Australian visitors. Does that mean that I will be monitored as well? Does that mean that what I say will go down in Australia's little black book?
What right, then, would Australia have to collect information from people who don't even live in their country? What right would Australia have to monitor me, a citizen of the USA, or anyone else who is not an Australian citizen?
Look at the topic again and tell me that this is a question of how maximum contrast can be achieved. No, we are not talking about how to make the color of the words so different they pop out of the page. We are looking for color schemes that are easy on the eyes.
When working for long hours, your eyes will become fatigued, and the higher the contrast of your texts, the more fatigued your eyes will become. It is better for your eyes to view low-contrast text than it is to view high-contrast text.
For that reason, I use navy on lightish blue as my color scheme.
The doldrums (near the Equator) are the only areas of the sea which are prevalently calm and flat. So long as he does not approach the Equator, he won't have much problem with flat seas.
...when the moon blows up?
On a serious note, do we really know what we are doing here? Whose to say that our bomardment won't release rock and dust from the moon into space, where it becomes a threat to satellites. Or perhaps we could hit some sort of undiscovered fissure, driving a spike into a crack. Either way, this has the potential to do more damage than good.
...because recently, for a school project, I needed to find some print sources of chemistry in the news. All I had on-hand was an issue of Popular Science, and it had an article on this invention.
The catch? The issue was from 2001.
Maybe so, but if it were open source, we wouldn't be at the mercy of big software companies waiting for a port. Some indy developers could get together and write up a port themselves, instead of waiting for google to do it.
But, if you look back at previous lawsuits that users have filed against big corporations with crazy EULA's, the court system often rules against the business, under the basis that the business is violating human rights.
...is that it doesn't apply to me, personally, at all. Rarely will I have a dream where I am threatened and even more rarely will it be in a feasable, real-life setting. The only validity I can see in this is that I often face and deal with awkward social situations in my dreams, but these are wildly unrealistic and completely alter the personalities of the people involved in the dreams. (Essentially, I am saying that I see people I know in my dreams, but they act very differently than they do in real life.)
However, I have dealt with threatening situations before, some very complex, but in a completely unrealistic setting. Once, several years ago, I had a dream where demons were possessing everybody in a wave-like pattern, starting from my block and expanding outwards, spreading their possesion by touch. I then found myself leading a party of twelve or so video game characters out of the city and away from the demons, searching for a way to set them back, which I eventually found.
And this is supposed to help me in real-life situations?
The mere fact that such technology is becoming feasible to us suggests that alien beings may have similar technological advancements, allowing them to visit us.
...towards the creation of biological prosthetics. Master the creation of several types of tissues and we may be able to apply the knowledge to the creation of new arms, legs, and hearts without the time it takes for stem cells to mature into the said appenditures. Additionally, this could lead to new, artificial biological enhancements, such as eyes on the back of our heads, larger, more complex brains, or more articulate toes.
From what I gather, only the applications that this ISP hosts can be downloaded for free. Other applications will be metered, and the downloaders will be billed for the bandwidth they spend downloading from other sites.
I fail to see how a big, tubular, gamma-raying science thing built on a huge plot of land helps us in any vital way whatsoever. The bottom line--I don't want my tax money to go to a project when I have no idea what it does.
It's not that this velociraptor was found with feathers--it wasn't--it's that for the first time, scientists noticed that there were sockets for the feathers to fit into.
...Is that these aren't bad ads. How many of you have actually looked at their ad gallery yourselves? The ads are silent until you tell them not to be, don't animate unnecessarily, and provide content without having to actually go to the site. Now, I'm not saying that all of the developers of these ads are going to be as good at developing unobtrusive advertisements, but, from what I've seen so far, these ads are not bad.

Perhaps it is something that we have not tested and only assumed for a fact?

Oh my, I am ashamed I actually took this article seriously.

Have you considered checking the transmission for other encoded layers?
