In the Czech language, Computer Science is called “Informatika” (Informatics). While this name could be misleading as well, I like the idea that it's about handling and processing information.
The documentation is still there. And as for me, I like the documentation of.Net much more than Java's. For example have a look at the documentation of.Net's List<T>.Add() method, that includes detailed explanation of the method, its time complexity, example usage and links to the same method in other versions of.Net. Compare that to the documentation of ArrayList<E>.add(), which is little more than one line.
For me, LINQ to objects is much more important than LINQ to SQL. It's often much cleaner to express some sequence-manipulating code in LINQ (whether actually using the language-integrated query part, or just the extension methods) than to write it iteratively. And lazy-loading, that LINQ uses whenever possible, has its advantages too.
You are kidding, right? According to Wikipedia, the US is somewhere between the 9th and 14th place when it comes to GDP per capita. Better scores than the US have some European countries (like Luxembourg) and Arab oil countries (like Qatar).
Maybe you should try The Witcher. There are few interesting choices you can make there and they aren't just black and white: e.g. you can help the oppressed elves or you can stop the elfish terrorists.
This is not vandalism, but violation of neutral point of view. You should try to talk with them first, not start and edit war. If talking fails, you should ask others to help you resolve the dispute, in this case the Neutral point of view noticeboard is probably the best place.
I just felt from the summary that he already had something to show. And in the quite long video, he shows that he already has written some code, but it doesn't do anything interresting (yet). I expected more. Not perfect, 100% finished project. But at least something.
If I understand what he says correctly, it is something like this: Distributing computation is hard, really hard. It's so hard that nobody ever did it properly. But Swarm will change this! How? Well, we don't know yet, there are so many interresting problems we have to solve first. And you can help!
The line is clear, and can be delineated by asking a simple question, "Does this story violate the constraints imposed by our universe?" If no it's science fiction. If yes it's fantasy fiction.
Except that we don't know what the constraints are, and it's quite possible we never will. Good example is FTL travel - it may be possible, but according to our current knowledge probably isn't.
I always thought that US is a democracy, that if you don't like what your goverment does, you can change it either by voting or by actively doing politics. I guess I was wrong.
The reason "open source" sucks for Joe User is that Joe User often wants functionality that is sometimes only available in proprietary software which the distro maintainers are not allowed to distribute and package.
And why can't they distribute them? Isn't it because of the conditions of GPL?
I weep for anyone designing interfaces in Windows Forms when WPF is available for C# Express.

There is an old Czech proverb saying “Cleanness – half of health”. Some people like to extend it with “Dirt – the whole”.

Obviously.

If every song made was available for $0.50 with a good client, guaranteed results and all that, there would be very little song piracy.
That, and if it was available everywhere, not just in the US.

Fortunately, Silverlight is not based on WinForms, but on WPF (kind of).
I haven't checked that box and i don't get modpoints either. I agree with others that it must be something else.

Boycotting something by not buying it is *exactly* like killing yourself as far as the people you're boycotting are concerned.
What would you suggest then?
Wolfram is located a few blocks from me in Champaign Illinois
Or just do what I did and "wolfram Alpha it"* (well, that doesn't quite have the same ring too it).

Have you noticed, what sources did they use it to "compute" the result? "Fifty Years of Barbie" made the greatest impression on me.
Hah. Easy-peasy in python!
Isn't it cheating, when you implement slow sorting algorithm using fast one?

I find it quite amusing that in Czech, "socan" is a derogatory word meaning "socialist".

K dkd that, but kt turns out they use a slkghtly dkfferent alphabet kn that unkverse.
And why is that a problem? You can't use "tr KIki IKik"? (Or something slightly more complicated if there are more differences.)
