  1. French Deputy Nicolas Dupont-Aignan on Politicians Worldwide Asking Questions About ACTA · · Score: 2, Informative

has no weight on the political chessboard and 90% of French citizens have never heard of him: he is a helpless maverick.

Simply because the guy doesn't know what he's talking about. MEPIS based on Mandriva? lol. Desktop-centric paper, what need is there to include CentOS (esp. if you already have Fedora)? etc.

  8. Re:Not available outside the US ... on Making Free Phone Calls With Google's GrandCentral · · Score: 2, Informative

Some of the rest of the world already has free VoIP, though. For instance, ~50% of French households have broaband, and the typical monthly fee of 30 bucks includes free VoIP (and numeric TV). The big difference of GrandCentral seems to be that it centralizes all of your phoning devices, around a unique phone number.

  10. obstacle: linux users on Why Aren't More Linux Users Gamers? · · Score: 1

"What do you think are the most important obstacles barring the big game publishers from reaching out to the Linux market more than they already do?" Linux gamers. Linux gamers are tech savvy enough to have both Linux and Windows. The linux sales the publishers would make are currently windows sales. So why bother? Plus, I guess that the gaming cracker/P2P/PSx hacker crowd is overrepresented among linux gamers.

  11. Re:Shared Cars = Yellow Bike = Failure on MIT Offers City Car for the Masses · · Score: 1

Theft is rare in Japan indeed: I lived 10mn walking distance from Umeda, one of Osaka's city centers. We never closed the door, and we never got anything stolen. Despite the fact that one big show window was all that separated the first floor from the street (it used to be a shop).

Theft is rare, except for bicycles!! I got stolen a few and stole a few myself (they were private properties, there's no free service).(At least in Osaka. Tokyo was better in that respect). The only problem you could have was with the cops, for bicycles are registered over there.

I read somewhere (.....) that Japanese manufacturers are starting to build some of their new plants in Japan. IIRC, they started a few years ago (like 2 or 3) with Plasma TVs.
