  1. Re:What again is the purpose of twitter? on Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Says Follower Count is Meaningless · · Score: 1

Some people require a toilet because they are full of chit. That's the purpose of twitter, and in many ways facebook and instagram. Their lives have no meaning, so they use a site that has no topic.

  2. Of course that depends completely on how effective those posts and ads were. Once upon a time there was a man called psy who posted a single music video on Youtube. Since then he's had 3,236,477,105 views. The whole thing with the Russian trolling was that genuine Americans were fooled into liking and sharing, making them go viral.

  3. Twitter, Reddit and Facebook all admit having Russian trolls abusing their sites and advertising tools. Literally thousands of fake accounts. A simple Google search would have disclosed that. But hey, if your head is still stuck up your ass then you probably wont be able to read those company statements. No proof, other than the social media sites actually admitting it.

  4. Russia would benefit from an ineffective/weak US government. Divide and conquer is what they require. Either that or make the US alienate allies by electing a hyper-nationalist reality tv star like trump.

I was driving in a 40 area last night at exactly 40mph and a bunch of cars passed me. One idiot decided to do so near a bend and ended up in oncoming traffic with very little time to get back into the lane, putting at least three cars at risk. Sadly a lot of people would rather be one minute earlier for strictly come dancing than actually drive safely. Cyclists are bad too. So many skip red lights or hold up traffic. The problem isn't cyclists vs drivers, there are good and bad on both modes of transport, the problem is human stupidity.

To be fair most PLCs had bad security at that point. The Modbus standard is one of the most unsecure protocols. German companies were among the first to start implementing better security on their products as a direct reponse to Stuxnet.

Seimens are still the leading provider of PLCs in Europe. Of course they were mad that someone targeted their hardware though. They were collateral damage in the US war on stability in the middle east.

  11. There is more than one axis of evil in the world. There's US backed regimes in the ME which include Israel and the Saudi dictatorship, Russian backed regimes in the same region like Syria and of course the propped up dictatorships like Honduras in Latin America.

  12. True dat. But Saudi and Israel are all part of the US axis of evil in that region. Either way the finger should be pointed at the US government.

  13. Maybe people in that region of the world should stop being childish idiots and learn how to get along with each other. I know that would require some common sense. Maybe that's what they are lacking around there?

  14. All these technical folks here would rather argue than actually get off their asses and do something about it.

  15. News for nerds actually. Doesn't have to be just tech. You must be new here. Technically us tech folk should be the people working to save the planet.

I have lane level navigation on my phone here in the UK.really handly when I need to know which lane to be in. It's a Xiaomi Redmi 4x and lasts nearly two days on a charge. It cost me a fraction of the price of a Samsung (I had been using Samsung flagships before that) and is just as good.

I think Xiaomi have kept the jack on their flagships. But either way, phones just aren't that interesting anymore. They've kind of reached their potential hardware- and operating system wise, and now it's up to app developers to make them more interesting. Unfortunately most app developers seem to be too interested in data mining, so your paying with your personal information.

  18. I'm sitting here watching the guy beside me trying to get his headphones to work with his "new" Iphone 7. It didn't come with a headphone jack, so he had to buy an adapter that looks stupid and will probably break easily. He has spent about 40 minutes trying to get it to work properly. Yes, he could buy a bunch of new devices like bluetooth headphones etc, but his existing headphones were decent enough. But hey, at least the phone is thinner (like that makes any difference) and it can load up Whatsapp a micro second faster. Whoopy doo! And those 'improvements' only cost a few hundred dollars! I think I'll be hanging on to my Xioami 4X a little longer. Sure there are phones with faster CPUs out there, but my apps open lightning fast and I have 64gb rom so no problem with storage space. It would take something particularly special to get me to buy a new phone now.

  22. Lots of Americas are dependent on Chinese made Iphones. Not sure how that can be seen as secure. Surely the fact that so many communications devices in the US use chinese made hardware is an even bigger national security risk.

  24. Individualism? Is that what makes lone Americans go around shooting in churches, malls, theatres, clubs, synagogues, schools, colleges and military bases?
