    A truly professional "IT Pro" will learn to forget the things he has seen about his/her colleagues.
    We've all had to do things like: check mail spools, check user directories, enable debug-level logging on various systems, etc. and seen embarrassing or personal things. The question is: are you a professional who learns to forget it and stick to the relevant data or are you a shithead who spreads rumours and makes us all look like privacy-invading assholes?

    Trolls have always been an integral part of slashdot, and part of the "uncensored" appeal of the site.

    Agree 100%. To this day I still laugh at myself when I get suckered into a goatse/rosebud/tubgirl click. If ye can't handle the gutter, read at +2 or higher.

    I really believe that what you need to concentrate on is quality not quantity of the stories. Crap like "Why I defend YouTube" and other blog clickbait can all FOAD. I'd rather read more comments on fewer good stories than a handful of comments on shite articles.

    The troll problem is handled by the excellent moderation system, set your threshold higher and you needn't worry about goatse links and the like. Personally I read at -1, Raw and Uncut because I'm a masochist and often find some funny stuff down in the gutter.

    Weird failure note: we have a 2014 Q5, the only part which failed was the driver's seat warmer and it went twice. Both covered by warranty and the shop said they'd never seen it twice in one car.

  21. If Obamacare has to pay by law, every drug company should raise their prices 10x. It's free money. They would be stupid not to.

    In Canada, where the government pays for drugs, the drugs are far cheaper than they are in the US. They work out deals with the companies because they buy en masse.

    From their homepage: "Only two remote holes in the default install, in a heck of a long time!" Granted the default install can't do much, but the code was gone over in a massive audit. Everything is still checked for correctness.

    Not saying Linux sucks, but I sleep better at night knowing OpenBSD powers much of what I am responsible for.

    Security in Linux has been looked at as something you bolt-on after the fact. It was not designed from the ground-up with security in mind. Look at OpenBSD as an example: rock solid security and when a rare remote exploit is found, it's usually news on sites like /.

    In Canada that is protected information. Only the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) can access it. There are serious consequences for folks leaking that kind of info here.
