I had the same reaction. Looking more closely at the terrain in the screenshots, I think what they are going for is that the large map has the appearance of your typical fantasy novel land map, and zooms smoothly into the playing scale map with much the same appearance. We'll see in January.

It's a phrase that works both ways. A monopoly can be both the monopoly itself, and the company that holds it. The OP's sentence is correct.

  6. Re:The Hypocrisy of Old People on Fallout 3 Launches Amidst Controversy · · Score: 3, Funny

All those other forms of media you list are very different from videogames, because, unlike videogames, violence and bad behavior in them do not cause children to do those bad things. Except for comic books, which used to in the 1940s and 50s but don't any more.

  7. OMG WTF LOLLOZ LOLLOZ on Do Software Versions Really Matter? · · Score: 1

1.0? Wouldn't that be like, the 1990's version? Gosh, I can't see myself buying anything at less than a double digit version number these days. Can't wait for Fallout 10!

  8. Re:Its a good thing that passengers never make cal on Software Holds Cell Phone Calls While Driving · · Score: 1

The choice is to have your call dealt with differently while driving than at other times. This is not a method for stopping people from talking while driving. This is a method for drivers who don't answer calls while driving to alert callers that they are on the road, and to pass through emergency calls even when they are.

  9. Re:The Problem is Natural Selection on Geneticist Claims Human Evolution Is Over · · Score: 5, Insightful

Utterly wrong on so many levels. Natural selection is going along just fine and dandy, thank you very much. The human environment has simply changed. The hemophiliacs now are fit, because their environment no longer kills them. Evolution is only ever relative to a species' environment, and many traits formerly selected against due to lethality are no longer relevant in this brave new world.

  23. Well Just Great on Diablo 3 Developer Explains Health and Potion Changes · · Score: 1

After having only played the Diablo demo, and missing Diablo II entirely, just when I am considering an actual Diablo purchase I get this. How in the hell am I gonna go through the whole game getting scads of potions and hoarding them for that really difficult encounter that never comes??? That's how I play RPGS, people, I gather potions and never use them!

I guess Diablo 3=fail or something.
