  1. Re:Why Steam? Why? on To Fight Currency Mismatches, Steam Adding Region Locking to PC Games · · Score: 4, Insightful

It's an anti-embargo. Russians can continue to afford their games despite drastic currency devaluation. Considering the other option is to raise Russian prices drastically, seems this is a gamer friendly decision.

  2. Recruiter Bait. on British Army Looking For Gamers For Their Smart-Tanks · · Score: 2

This sounds like the garbage that any military recruiter will spew to entice you to sign up. "Oooh! You're really good! We need your hawt leetness! What? You didn't get a position in the Scout SV playing real life video games. Eat it soldier, you'll serve where you're told."

  3. Re:I'm excited! on PlayStation Now, Sony's 'Netflix For Games' -- Pros and Cons · · Score: 2

  6. Truth In Advertising on Ask Slashdot: Taking a New Tack On Net Neutrality? · · Score: 1

You could do this completely dick move, but be sure never to describe what you are offering as internet service, nor be deceptive when advertising so as to make tenants think you are providing internet service. It would be akin to advertising free cable when the only channels on that "cable" are CCTV of your board of directors masturbating over the idea of "mad profitz".

  7. Creative on Ask Slashdot: Tech Customers Forced Into Supporting Each Other? · · Score: 1

    Terrible support.

  8. NEWS FLASH on Even In the Wild Mice Run In Wheels · · Score: 1

  9. Multiple Mental Organelles on Understanding an AI's Timescale · · Score: 1

Just as our minds are not points of awareness but collections of such, any AI will have processes that evaluate information at differing timescales. Moreover, the consciousness of an AI will be at whatever timescale the AI most commonly needs to interact at to thrive. All other processes will be subordinate, whether faster or slower.

  11. Re:It's not arrogant, it's correct. on AT&T Exec Calls Netflix "Arrogant" For Expecting Net Neutrality · · Score: 2

Doubtful AT&T can't meet their customer's demands. Congestion is not an issue.

  12. Might and Magic X on Ask Slashdot: What Games Are You Playing? · · Score: 1

Just finished Might and Magic X: Legacy last night, then I tried Blackguards and the program locked up during the intro movie. I was not able to close it or even reboot my computer, so I won't be trying that again til after a patch. Today I tried Jazzpunk and it was mildly amusing... not as funny as I had hoped. I think I am likely to fire up BF4 now that Second Assault has been released.

  13. Re:Free market means exactly that ! on Network Solutions Opts Customer Into $1,850 Security Service · · Score: 1

Free market means more specifically that the market is free of factors that inhibit the efficiency produced by supply and demand. If there are barriers to entry, a market is not free, even if there is zero government interference.

  16. Big Launcher for Android on Ask Slashdot: Easy Wi-Fi-Enabled Tablet For My Dad? · · Score: 1

I turned my wife's smartphone into her own Jitterbug style large print/large icon phone with that app. A tablet using it would be quite easy for your Dad with just a little set up. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.kunes.android.launcher.activity&hl=en

The (somewhat fuzzy) comedic premise of my jest is that all our posts in this thread are entangled and all appear to be the first and only post. Yes, there is a little bit of stretch to get there, but it seems most readers made it there just fine and got their chuckle. Better luck next time.

  19. First Post! on First Experimental Evidence That Time Is an Emergent Quantum Phenomenon · · Score: 5, Funny

  20. Misconstrues on Bennett Haselton's Response To That "Don't Talk to Cops" Video · · Score: 2

The title of the video really refers to "Don't talk to the cops, ever, UNTIL YOU HAVE LEGAL COUNSEL." One of the points made in the video is that there is plenty of time for facts to come out during the court process and the time to speak is then, not alone to the cops where you are vulnerable to being tripped up. It is not blanket advise to shut up from arrest to sentence.

  21. Re:not the first time they remove features. on Nvidia Removed Linux Driver Feature For Feature Parity With Windows · · Score: 1

That's normal. I remember as a child (long before I ever encountered anaglyph glasses of any kind) amusing myself by switching from one eye closed to the other, which would slightly change the tint of what I saw.

  22. Blame AMC on Apple Offers Refund To Stiffed Breaking Bad Season Pass Customers · · Score: 1
