    1) So what if it's a PR move? It's still a good move for Americans - no matter what.
    2) So what if it's a Foxconn factory? Of course it will be one - Apple is NOT a manufacturing company, but they do work *very* closely with their manufacturers.
    3) So what if it's a mostly robotic factory? This IS the future of manufacturing in all countries - accept it, and accept that even robotic factories are better than none for the local economy.

    Seriously, how are so many of you trying to spin this negatively? And why?

    Is this the new linux fallback explanation? If something doesn't work under linux, surely it's the users fault! Oh wait... I guess that's been the explanaton for awhile, according to some.

    Don't get me wrong, I like linux and am involved with it in many ways, but your answer was completely idiotic.

    .. and don't even get me started on some of my high end HTPC cards, thats just talking about my laptop onboard audio.

    Linux is still a big fat fail here.

    It can be a pain in the ass to get working still, and is buggy.

    I'm sure it works well for some, but many others still have problems.

    Damn, even my grandparents know what a "google search" is. I'm positive that everyone I know does. Do they think to do it as often as they could? No, but they do know what it is.

    Certainly the majority of people in any modern country know what a "google search" is.

    There are many reasons to want a 17" laptop, just as there are many reasons to want a ultra portable 9" laptop. Personally I own both and use them for very different things.

    Have you ever even been on a construction site? The standard protective gear for one of the occupations you mention is going to be a hardhat and steel toe / shanked boots. How do either of those make it hard to use a 17" laptop, and what specifically is harder to use about a 17" laptop than a 13"? Idiot.

    Whether your running windows or linux, any button can be mapped to the middle button. (For the logitech mice). Unfortunately, under windows, the Logitech setpoint software is IMO a nightmare.

    ... and now, a few years later again, the PC is vastly superior for the purpose.

    Xbox lacks CPU power and RAM for many things (Such as playing many HD formats, also playing many MAME games).

    Modded xboxes were very cool, but I prefer my mythtv box by a long shot.

    Generally a type of ground based augmentation system is used.
    WAAS, LAAS, etc. (These ones are used in US)

    Also - the GPSr in a commercial jet is going to be a bit better than your $150 Garmin handheld.

    ... I should also add that it's actually quite hard to get a signal in a large passenger jet with a handheld GPSr, though it is possible with luck and a sensitive receiver. (Such as the SiRF III or other modern receivers.)

    A GPSr is a radio receiver only. It doesn't transmit anything.
    I would be extremely amazed if your GPSr was affecting anything.

    For what it's worth I've used my receiver on quite a few commercial flights (Sometimes the pilots say okay, sometimes not.) Haven't been in any crashes yet.

    Quite a few people run dev kernels -- especially those running new hardware that requires the absolute latest support. This is a little more serious than most bugs.

    I disagree. I'm a tweaker and tend to re-install windows very often, especially when tweaking for a specific game. Anyway, addons for games are always just as easily cracked & pirated as the games themselves.
