Hey Slashdot, stop spending your mod points modding up "THE ISLAMISTS ARE COMING, WE MUST READY THE NUKES" posts so that people can see a post with actual content.
This is not really surprising. I was in the game's beta and there was really nothing memorable about the thing. Just Diablo 2 in 3d with a ridiculous modern setting and crummy level design (if you've seen one office building full of demons, believe me... you've seen them all). I'm glad to see that that sort of mediocrity hasn't been rewarded.
AVs or not, I think anyone still using IE deserves malware nowadays. I have a techno-illiterate family that would come to me with 'my computer is borked, help please' every week or so. Invariably, the problem would stem from some bloody IE. After I switched them all to Firefox (with Adblock), that all came to a blissful end. Sticking to IE after all these years is, in my opinion, an unforgivable offence.
That's a good point. Well, perhaps a Portal 2 game can have guards that you can teleport into pits of spiky death.
(Though I'm not sure if there should be another Portal, considering how glorious the first one was)
I think Portal could have done with some human enemies, rather than just those wacky little bots. The idea of opening a portal over a spiky bit and then opening another portal beneath some guard's feet has strong appeal.
That said, it was a great game with some of the most memorable lines I've ever heard in a video game.
"Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I was all 'goodbye' and you were like 'NO WAY!' and then I was all 'we pretended we were going to murder you'. That was great."
In Canada, Rogers Cable has been throttling BT traffic for a while. Hopefully a successful lawsuit in the US would encourage similar action against Rogers up here in the north.
What ISP's should be doing is putting down the money to lay down the fibre optic cables needed to keep up with demand. Though I guess doing something like that when you can just covertly attack the customer would make FAR too much sense.
Facebook used to be interesting because it was semi-useful. Then suddenly the option to add applications appeared and now whenever I look at someone's profile, I get bombarded with all manner of stupid crap ("Adopt a pet!" "Pirates vs. Ninjas!" "Superpoke!"). Facebook profiles aren't quite the eyesore that their Myspace equivalents are (yet), but they've become so filled with stupid garbage that I don't want to look at them.
So yeah, thanks Google for doing your part to help destroy what was once a fairly good website.
With all the heavy hitters that Wii has lined up in the next few months, one can only conclude that this article is BS. I bet these are the same 'analysts' who predicted that Nintendo would remain a distant third last year at about this time. They were wrong then and they're wrong now.
One time I was playing a female character in the Lineage 2 beta (terrible game, by the way) and partied with some random folk. After a bit of grinding, one of my party members said the following:
Him: "Hey, are you single?"
Me: "Yeah."
Him: "Ohhh! Cool! Cause I need me a gaming wife."
Me: "... I'm male."
Him: "WHAT? YOU FAG!!"
That is my story.

People are too hard on KDawson. All the Slashdot editors post irrelevant garbage... KDawson just happens to do it a bit more frequently.

This is perhaps the greatest thing anyone has ever done, ever. Though it would've been better if they'd come down from the ceiling.

The fact that this hate-filled diatribe can be modded 'insightful' speaks volumes of the slashdot community
