  1. skip the movie, I'll give your teenage daughter 90 minutes of entertainment free

I'm pretty sure it won't take 90 minutes to ass rape you with a chainsaw and feed the bits to our dogs. . But we can find out.

  2. Batman v. Superman is the worst movie in the DC universe.

I guess you didn't see the Green Lantern then. I didn't think it was as bad as a lot of people did, Batman v. Superman was certainly better.

Everyone involved was awful. The script, the screenplay, the line delivery.

I'm old enough that I never thought that anyone could be a better superman than Christopher Reeves. After Batman v. Superman, I think that Henry Cavil has the potential to be at least as good as, and probably better. I think the directors decision to have him play the role a little flatter than he should is at least some of the issue. But overall I thought he played to role well. I didn't care for Ben Afflack as Batman, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred seemed an odd choice to me.

Gal Gadot did nothing but furrow her brow for two hours.

I can't say I ever really cared for WonderWoman, but frankly I though she was the highlight of the movie. Which surprised me. I was actually looking forward to the Wonder Woman movie after watching that movie.

Eisenberg spent 10 minutes saying ding-ding-ding-ding-ding.

Either we didn't see the same movie, or that's one hell of an exaggeration.

DC films and TV are pretty garbage.

Ahh. I get it now. You're a teenage Marvel fan. I have to agree, Marvel characters are a bit easier to bring to the screen and make entertaining than DC. But I still thought this was a pretty good movie.

  3. My teenage daughter has been wanting to see this for a while now, so I'm pretty sure I'll be going at some point soon. The previews looked pretty good to me, to I'm fine with going. I have a feeling this will be one of those movies that the critics are going to blast, but the public will like. I just looked at IMDB and did check a couple of the reviews. They're were at least a couple (all the ones I read)) that it appears have seen the film and rated it fairly high. So the 8.3 seems reasonable. It certainly wouldn't be the first time the critics got it wrong, if that's the case.

It has been creeping up over the years since Comcast took over and my last couple of bills have been $95/ month. Up from $85/ month until recently.

Weren't some of the events broadcast in 3D for the last summer games? I guess that's not cool anymore.

While I appreciate Bluray, I just don't see the point of 4K and now 8K. Isn't DVD still outselling Bluray? It used to be VHS vs. DVD. The difference was noticeable on damn near any display size. From a normal distance DVD still looks good on a modest sized TV. I notice the difference on my 50 inch TV in my living room, but DVD is still very watchable. On my projector in my theater room, DVD can be a bit annoying in comparison. But Bluray still looks pretty good to me. I'm sure I would see the difference between 2K and 4K. But do we really need to have DVD, Bluray, 4K and 8K all competing at once? Is there any difference between the last three on a 40 inch television at 10 to 15 feet viewing distance? The sound on a Bluray is certainly a big improvement. But as far as I know, there's no difference sound wise between Bluray and 4K.

  7. Yeah, just the one. But I didn't want to end up in the situation you did and bought some insane set of drivers that had just about every size and type you could ever want. I didn't mention the 4 and 6 fluted drivers or the pentalobe, 5 and 7 node, clutch, etc. and so on. I'm pretty sure I've used them all at one point or another over the years. Granted several have only been needed once, but I didn't want to be running all over town looking for one that I didn't have. Especially if I discovered it at 1:00 in the morning.

  8. So someones flat-head screw bit became a fillips-head screw bit and immediately the owner said "The answer is switching everything to torx-screw bit!" ... yeah, that's likely! ... not to mention logical.

Hell yeah it is. Torx screws don't strip nearly as easily as Phillips. Besides, I don't want screws that morph into other types. I have several sets of flat, phillips, allen, and torx drivers, but only one set of security torx, tri-wing, snake-eye, and pin-head drivers. I sure don't have any "fillips-head[sic]" drivers.

  9. But the plan didn't cover internal wiring, so exactly what did it cover?

I was kind of wondering that too. I would assume they are responsible for everything to the pole at least. As far as I know, they are responsible for everything to the box on the outside of the house. Just like the phone company. Even so, $5 per month for the cable from the pole to the outside connection is ridiculous.

I mean the only time you would need a tech to come is due to either a wiring problem from the pole to the house or due to an internal wiring problem.

You'd think, but no. At my last house the line from the pole to their location was old and needed to be replaced. After a dozen service calls I finally got a tech who told me the truth. Rather than actually fixing it they ended up sending a tech with a much more expensive modem that could deal with the bad line. It mostly worked until I moved. If I would have had a choice of any other ISP I would have taken it. But even with bad lines it was better than dial-up.

Agreed. But it's become pretty complicated. I don't think China has protectionist tariffs in place. What they have is artificially depressed currency. So effectively it's a high tariff on any imported goods. Plus the government also controls the value of certain items to try to gain a monopoly in that market. Look at rare earth minerals and solar panels. They driven the prices so low that it's not economical to mine most rare earths outside of China currently. Solar panels from China have put a lot of companies out of business.

  21. So maybe in Trump's bloviating buffoon mind he thinks he can raise the import duty / tariffs sky high as protectionism to force jobs to come back.

The US has import tariffs on around 12,000 items already, many of which are there to keep companies in the US in business. Paperclips have a 127% import tax. Which is why nearly all of them sold in the US are made in the US. Peanuts are taxed between 130% and 160% Tobacco has a 350% import tax. Those are products that tariffs have successfully kept producers in the US in business.

The president, in 2011, tried to keep tire manufacturing in the US by raising the tariff on Chinese made tires to 35%. But all it managed to do was to move manufacturing to countries other than China.

Of course for worst case we can go back to the tariff wars caused by the Fordney-McCumber Tariff. Once European countries also raised their import tariffs from the US we got the great depression.

There's certainly something to be said for using tariffs to keep companies in business. Japan has used tariffs and insane regulations to protect their own automotive industry. Obviously if import taxes are pressed too hard it can have a huge backlash too.

As for Trump, like most politicians and businessmen, I'm sure his private persona is much different from his public one. Not that I can see myself voting for him or Hillary.
