I thought the same thing at first. However, assuming that the simulation implements only the very fundamental building blocks of physics at it's core, it is interesting to see that they translate to match our observations on a macro scale. Given that, it's just a matter of what else we can glean from the simulation runs that we have yet to observe IRL. These new insights don't have to be taken as truth, but rather lead us to new observations.
Bummer, Winamp + Shoutcast DSP is perfect (and free) for broadcasting to Live365 and such (aside from stability issues - which now will never get fixed). MediaMonkey is close except for metadata updates.
I'd argue that the spirit of 35 USC 101 refers to physical processes, not abstract ones; at most a practical implementation of an abstract algorithm is what is patentable, not the algorithm itself. The Juducial Exceptions explain this further. This was decided by Gottschalk_v._Benson, and seems to have been confirmed by the current case.
I bought an Asus Eee PC 1001PX for a couple hundred bucks mainly as an overseas travel computer. Back up pictures to it, blog, check e-mail, etc. If it gets stolen, no big loss. Currently running Peppermint (Lubuntu variant) on it quite nicely.
Or could it be that the people complaining about Unity doesn't know how to change to to Xubuntu, Kubuntu and so on? A lot of the comments are "Unity is crap" bla bla. I just don't get it, If you don't like Unity, just use Xubuntu or whatever.
Unity has been here for over a year now, it's here too stay, just use Xubuntu or whatever if you don't like it.
I imagine many of them have moved on to something else. Doesn't mean they stop griping about the reason they did.
As someone who has been interested in Arch but turned off by the laborious installation (call me lazy but I just have better things to do), this might just do the trick.
I can understand how talking while driving wouldn't have that much statistical effect on accident rates. Texting is the real problem. It's much more dangerous and hard to detect/enforce. I'm pretty sure the lady who t-boned me last year would have seen my rather large pick-up had her eyes not been on her phone.
Launch windows to Mars only occur every two years or so. Talk about a deadline. Sometimes the software isn't quite done when launch time comes. (Worked flight software for the doomed Mars '98 and much more successful Stardust).
Just as a time passer on the bus last week I counted up cars whose drivers were using their phone. Not with scientific rigor or anything (though it would be interesting to do so).
Out of about 20 cars, 6-7 were texting, 4-5 were talking on the phone, and one person was kicking it old school and reading a paperback. On I-5. In rush hour traffic.

from "may" and "could" to "can."
Actually, the article states that Cyanogenmod uses the same blob as well.
I've kept my passwords in an AxCrypt encrypted spreadsheet forever - think I'll migrate to KeepAss now. Linux, Windows and Android clients? Perfect.
Beta Blows Beta Blows

I *WILL* notice, especially when the person in front of me reclines back at full speed.
Wasted space, useless pictures, makes digesting the news more difficult.
They've been doing this for years with old F-4s for target practice over the Gulf. Must be running out of lead sleds. QF-4
Say it ain't so!!

I hope SOF2 is next ...
I'd say all the new tech coming out of graphene could be considered new invention. Look towards the universities.
Score: 6 This is spot on.

Opryland was razed and replaced with a mega-mall years ago. Good riddance just the same.
Pull out the Jump to Conclusions (TM) mat!

Just like Gillette keeps adding blades. Mach 12 microwave-beam powered razor with gene-therapy enabled goo strips anyone?

Awesome. I never have mod points when I really need them.

I wouldn't have known about this otherwise. Paid and downloading now. Way to go Louis, fuck 'em!
