Only when the word is pronounced as a word, not a series of letters, i.e. USA, FBI, CIA are all caps but Nasa and Nato are not because you don't pronounce the letters. You're welcome to make your own version of our language just please don't call it English - it just leads to confusion and arguments. At the very least call it American English.
Not really. Unless I'm missing something you would effectively be having a conversation with a real person. The only difference is that it is being relayed through a bot which may or may not alter the text - and even if it does alter the text the general gist would still be the same. If you were having a conversation with a person would you click the links they send you? Or would you say "I can't click that link because I can't verify your identity and trustworthiness"? It's definitely devious but I don't think the results are that surprising.
Also they are surprised that people clicked tinyurl links more than myspace links but... that just shows that people would rather look at anything than a myspace page.
I guess it's kind of like a pizza place that makes pizzas that taste really good but the buildings got rats and the meat is...questionable. You could tell the management but they don't want to pay money for rat poison and they can make more money by using the cheap meat. So you're better off warning people not to eat those pizzas.
True, the hole shouldn't have been there but there is a difference between shout "Hey! Everybody! You can break into the fort here, the wall's broken!" and quietly saying the fort owner "your wall is broken, people could get in through there".
Holy crap, did I just side with Microsoft? I feel dirty.

What does Windows 7 bring to your business that XP doesn't?
Shiny. Can't really think of anything else apart from the ability to quickly arrange two windows side by side.
Would that same benefit be provided by other operating systems?
Yes, OSX contains a lot of Shiny but the programs I use every day don't run on it.
Is the difference between Windows 7 and FreeBSD (for example) enough to justify the license cost (not just the initial cost, but the requirement to track licenses as well)?
Yes. My programs don't run on FreeBSD.
If you're going to need retraining anyway, it seems like now would be a good time to consider other alternatives.
Actually that quote is from the summary. The line from the article is
"[...] tell people who don't clear their plates to choose another restaurant next time."
I think the question is really whether they are asking them to choose another restaurant (which would make sense as their eating habits clearly don't align with the policy of the restaurant - if you went to a vegetarian restaurant and asked for meat you would probably get asked to find a different restaurant next time) or if they are actually being banned from eating there again.
I have a friend in Australia at the moment. Unfortunately he's just left Sydney or I would ask him to investigate.
That depends. Sure, he might not cause any trouble by himself but I can't imagine it would be too hard for someone to kidnap him and use his skills for their own nefarious purposes. Just a thought.
first, if i pay for the food i should be able to flush it down the toilet if i want.
you can, you just won't be eligible for the 30% discount.
second, i didn't choose the portion.
Yes you did, it's a sushi restaurant.
if someone serves me more food than i can eat, that's not my fault... and it's not healthy for anyone to force themselves to eat food when their body says they are full.
Then don't finish it and pay the full price as you would at any other restaurant.
caves on Mars.. [...] we've never explored any of them.
That's something that's always bugged me about the Mars missions. Maybe it's just that I've only seen the popular images from the rovers - the panoramas of plains - but it seems fairly obvious to me that if life isn't rampant on Mars then it might be hiding in more sheltered environments, such as caves.
There is the human interest element, too. People see a panorama of Mars and most people say "wow, you went to a lot of trouble to take a photo of some rocks that kinda looks like Arizona through a colour filter". Even if you understand how awesome it is (and it is awesome) the photos aren't spectacular until you realise what they are of. If you want to increase interest in exploration take a photo of Olympus Mons. Take a photo of something that looks, well, out of this world.
Sure, the limits are often inappropriate, over-enforced and often used as a way for the police to make money rather than for their stated purpose but are you seriously saying that driving fast has NEVER led to someone's death? No-one has ever taken a corner too fast and lost control? No-one has ever underestimated their speed and been unable to stop at a corner they did expect?
According to my phone it's appendicitis.
Now that you mention it, I think I've got a headache, too...
Apparently they've been measured at 127Db which, if true, is enough to cause serious hearing damage.

Actually I've got an inflamed Pedant Gland. It's causing all sorts of problems.

He (GP) didn't accuse him (GGP) of saying that he was making it up, he was commenting on the fact that people often doubt the truth these conditions:
"hearing it makes me roll my eyes and wonder if it's not just a sympathy act"
i.e. his first reaction on hearing the story was to wonder if the guy is making it up.

Same here (UK). BP.com isn't even on the first page.
I bet they all simply read: "FRIST POST in the year of Dying BSD on Cowboy Neal's iPad!"
