I live north of toronto in a country area. We don't get conventional high speed so I must get it through a satellite. Turns out my provider Routcom does this in a positive way. I pay for 512kbps and they throttle it up to 728kbps for the first 10 seconds to make web browsing faster. I pay near 100 a month for my internet service so I figure it is the least they can do. I realize this is high but it is all that is offered in my area. However ISP that throttles down is not rare. it is just another form of not providing reliable internet speeds.

They need to admit vista was a huge disaster and cut their losses and start from scratch. Vista wasn't close to a fresh start. What happens when u put crap and a fancy sheet on a pile of crap? u get a bigger pile that looks nice but still smells.

So we can show people being shot in afganastan or god knows where but give them a controller and a game and all of a sudden the rules change. Most of the times kids will see worse on television then ever in a game. I am sure seeing reporters on the 8 o'clock news getting their head blown off is much tamer then a video game. Times change and we must adapt. There are people getting dismantled in third world countries and those world helth organizations showind starving people that you can no longer sweep it under the rug. People are so nieve education is more powerful then saying no.

  5. Ammusing Scramble on Microsoft Wants OLPC System to Run Windows XP · · Score: 1

All this is is microsoft realizing that it won't control a market share of the third world. Heaven forbid they be left out of the game even though in the beginning they saw nwo promise in it. As far as I am concerned microsoft has no power or sway at least not enough to change the platform of the pc considering the time it took to design the current one. Mind you they ha to do this without microsoft support. So microsoft can "go suck on a lemon" for all I care.

  6. WOW on EVE-Online Patch Makes XP Unbootable · · Score: 1

It is amazing that all throught the developement no warning bells went off. Who would have came up with the file name? "Mabye we should use boot.ini there can't be anything important with tht name in the c: drive." Shows you how many of the developers actually tested the patch to the fullest. Not only did they drop the ball but they grabbed a knife and punctured it.

  7. Innovation on Beyond Nobel, Hard Drives Get Smart · · Score: 1

I like the idea of innovating, but what are you going to do with 10TB drive? I understand it may be useful for enterprise but what will the average consumer do with it? I think instead of increasing storage they work on perfecting the storage methods we have now.

I have a macbook (yes I typed that right) and I upgraded to 7.10 a few days agi. If I can say anything about the Os it gives me 1 and a half hours tops of batterylife. I understand that there have been various updates to apps and the kernel, but I think if u get sufficient power management out of 7.04 then stay with it.

  14. Does this really surprise You on Ballmer Suggests Linux Distros Will Soon Have to Pay Up · · Score: 1

Microsoft has been doing this for years. Making idol threats to anyone who has an idea that could potentially cost them profit. This is only happening more now because they realize like I and many others that Windows is a huge pile of crap in a fancy package. The idea of people and companies migrating to linux scares them because it means that they would have to charge less for their os. Also because companie like google and IBM are challenging their office by offering cheaper solutions all they have left to cling onto is their worthless "patents"(whichever one they choose to exploit this time).
