What about print classifieds? They're a "cesspool of crime" as well, the only difference is that more people use Craigslist. I'm sure that if you take a sample of 80 million print ads you'll probably get similar statistics then those from 80 million Craigslist ads.
What is the MPAA's definition of "traffic" exactly? I mean, one could argue that making available a link to a torrent of a movie is merely providing a service to those who would like to backup their movie collections. It's not the Pirate Bay or whichever site the kids are using now that's responsible for the use that people make of their service.
There's a lot of PDF books to download and nobody's going against the libraries for providing free books that people can scan.
Surprise, surprise... the person who wrote the summary didn't read the article.
Nobody was arrested and likely nobody will be arrested because the security firm won't release their data to the authorities. The security firm did their digging using fake Facebook accounts and other methods that would make it difficult for authorities to be legally be allowed to use the info in court.
And apparently, all you need to do to be considered a senior member is to mouth off on Facebook.
Isn't there a movie plot that started like this? I can't remember what it is, but I do remember that it didn't end well.
Let's let the CDC do its thing, we don't need more repositories of invisible Armageddon bringers, then again, 2012 is around the corner and we're all supposed to die anyways... oooh... perhaps because of this?
"there have been documented cases of escape attempts"
Wow, really? Last time it was cameras and now they have built-in picks and shovels? Cell phones are sure getting more and more like swiss army knives with every passing day...
They doing this for realsies or will they tell us they've succeeded and show us scenes from that crappy movie where Keanu Reeves invents a fusion reactor?
How the hell will I be able to continue my game when somewhere without cloud access (like in a subway)?
I do hope that this system will implement both local and cloud copies of the save games which are then synched or else the system is utter garbage.
On top of that, why am I being forced to subscribe to a data plan that I DO NOT WANT! Occasional Wifi access is fine for my needs, I don't have a pressing need to tweet my life or check my emails every god damned minute so I don't want to pay for data access for my phone or other devices.
Frankly, I see nothing wrong with rating systems for games like they have for movies and I would even support warning labels too... IF there is actually corroborating evidence of what the label claims. Show us multiple independent peer reviewed and verified studies and then, yeah, label to your heart's content.
In the meantime, focus on your country's astronomical debt/deficit and maybe think about ending those useless wars of yours (drugs, terrorism, etc).
If 30% is nothing, then could you forward 30% of your pay-cheque to me?
If from the get go the devs had to fork over 30% to even be allowed to play the game, then yeah it's alright because you plan for it in your business model. But this isn't what's happening, they now have to take a 30% cut to their revenue.
I never said that the article was wrong, I was answering the parent poster who said "maybe my math is wrong".
And thus, Skynet was born.
Sure, you might be able to beat it now, but when it decides to change the rules to Rock, Paper, Scissors, Nukes... we are f*cked.
It is wrong, it's 350 000 from January 1st to today, not for a 12 month period.
So it's 350 000 in 67 days or 5224 per day, so 1 906 716 per year
1 905 716 * 0.99 *0.35 = 660 677$

Bah, Wikileaks was going to put it on their site anyways, so the CIA figured that they might as well do it first.

And that is why paper books/publishing isn't going away anytime soon.
News reporters are meant to verify and inform not spread idle gossip and misinformation.
LOL
*falls off chair laughing*
Ford will be restart selling the Pinto?
Don't worry, there's only an issue if you get rear-ended, avoid that and you'll never have any problems!
Hmm... interesting, that same advice applies when in prison too.
They're going to do the same as a Kinect, but for more expensive?

[...] women are flaming assholes a little less often.
So they eat less Mexican food? What's this got to do with Wikipedia?
A bunch of nerds do *not* want more women with them?
LOL, sorry Biff.
And what happens if there is a DoS attack on the servers?
Forget about that, what happens if I want to play while not connected or during an internet outage?
"The pirates will have a work around for this about a week after it comes out. It's the non-pirates that will have problems with it."
Pfft! You're saying that as if that's what happened with every other DRM scheme invented since the dawn of time...

These high bandwidth users will be compensated and have their bills reduced according to the throttling that they endure, right?
I mean, they're paying for a service and are being denied it during certain periods, in which case they should be compensated.

Think bigger, this is China we're talking about!
Here's a pic of their spaceplane.
What surprised me more about this story is the fact that they found enough Bing users to get a decent dataset for their research.
Not!
