    These are university courses.

    These are not university courses. They are provided by a university, and provide (a subset or) the same content of a university course and possibly same assignments. However, you get no credit. Instead, they give some form of statement of accomplishment Maybe one day some such organization (e.g., udacity) will become university, but not yet.

    It's not that difficult to find a career DBA that don't understand how the underlying system works (let alone troubleshoot a problem with tools like strace or truss or even dtrace)...

    Actually, I logged a bug with Oracle that the latest version of their database can't be troubleshot with strace or truss. So even Oracle assume no one use such tools to troubleshoot.

    It is too easy to make up nearly any number one like, by dividing the functionalities into different applications.

    BTW, Oracle E-Business Suite (i.e., Oracle Apps) alone has over 100 'applications' according to Oracle's classification.

    I know LaTeX, M$ Word and LibreOffice Writer (actually also OpenOffice.org Writer). My thesis and resume was written with LaTeX, so you can say it earned me my job. But I don't really understand the advantage of LaTeX.

    So if Oracle integrates OSGi into Java, other organizations will concern with how Oracle's plans might conflict with the Jigsaw module system. So Oracle cannot do anything with Java.
