    "Christianity", is hugely profitable. Just look at the big beautiful churches in many neighbourhoods. Within a few minutes walk of where I work in the downtown core, there are two enormous churches. Each of them taking up a city block.
    The "God" racket looks pretty profitable to me. :)

    Never, ever, lock a soft-top convertible.

    A friend pointed this out to me when I bought my first convertible. When I got my next car I started locking again. Someone broke the window and all they got was a hand full of burned CDs. If I had not locked the door I would not have had to replace the glass.
    I have not locked a car door since.

    Maybe because people commonly stuff things like their GPS into the glove box, which is located on the passenger side?
    My car is so old it doesn't even have door locks, so not really a problem for me.

    You might want to consider that most of the people throughout the works who hate America, do so for VERY good reasons.

    Talk and talk on dating sites, maybe for weeks, seeming like we have much in common, and then suddenly she stops responding. What did I say wrong? What happened? I don't know. Communication? What communication?

    Stop talking, and start meeting. Seriously, I met my lovely GF on OKcupid.
    This is how I liked to work. Two or three messages, Then phone call. If phone call goes well meet. Meeting usually coffee an hour to two hours before mealtime, so you can suggest lunch, or dinner if meeting goes really well. Pay for lunch, or dinner.
    Post meet (if you liked her), send a message. email, dating site, or text, saying that you had a good time, and you would like to see her again.

    A couple of last things:
    Bring flowers/ stuffed animal, ETC to first date. (I once brought a cordless drill, it had come up in our conversation.)
    If the opportunity presents itself, pay for her beverage.
    Hold the door for her.
    If you are standing around the parking lot, talking for a long time, she probably wants you to kiss her.
    Keep the parking lot kiss low key.

    I'm actually currently using the 7-11 Speakout plan.

    Is that any good? I was thinking about getting that for my mother. Just so she could text. She is the only person in the family who con not text. Strangely, since texting has become common, I feel I am closer to my siblings than ever before.

    I was born and raised in Canada. I am a proud Canadian through and through. I have never heard a Canadian pronounce aboot instead of about. I have travelled coast to coast, and have never heard it. Ever.

    Or one of the small carriers who might go out of business at any moment.

    From what I know of Monsanto, it seems like he will get sued by them sooner or later. Seems to me that he should get there first.

    This is why I keep one windows laptop around. I got a killer deal on it about a year ago.
    17" quad core AMD, with 8GB RAM. Refurbished, $400 in Canada. It doesn't get used much, but nice to have the odd time I need it.

    Buying a laptop in Canada it is almost always $100 more than buying the same laptop in the US.

    I have many interests outside technology. Technology is certainly high up on the list, but I am also a singer, outdoors man, woodworker, mechanic, pet owner, motorcycle rider, Jeep enthusiast, and too many other things to even mention. I even have a lovely girlfriend.
    My interest in technology has provided me with quite a good living these past 30 years or so. As well as enough disposable income to afford plenty of toys.

    Looks like Linux wins, with Android a close second.
    The best part is that this is all for one person living alone. :)

    I read somewhere the PETA is opposed to people keeping pets as well. Which to my mind doesn't really make much sense.
    I have a dog, she is an absolute sweetheart, and utterly incapable of surviving in the wild. She is a greyhound, a very unsuccessful racer, retied because she really didn't understand why she should chase small furry critters.

    I occasionally wonder if they have ever thought about the fact that if cows and chickens weren't tasty, they would likely be extinct?

    The last time I saw a PETA protest, I stopped and asked them where the best local steakhouse was. I figured they would know. You should have seen the look on their faces. :)
