    OpenVPN rocks!
    I have a client site that needs to access some data in my local office. This client site network is locked down so tight that almost nothing goes through. Somehow OpenVPN manages to maintain several connections between here and there. Add to that the fact that they are fully cross platform and you just can't beat them.

    A smart hostage taker would have a radio capable of listening in on the police. The only problem is that smart people don't take hostages. Taking hostages is a fools game.

    It is actually better than it seems. I subscribed a while back and it appears that there is more content than they show on their sign up screens. Which of course makes no sense at all.
    That said, I did run out of content I wanted to watch after about 2 months. So I suspended my account. It comes back on as of Dec 1, I hope they have added enough content to make it worthwhile, or I will be suspending again before very long. After that if they still can't get content, I will be ending my account.

    I hacked together a simple dipole antenna for my radio out of junk I had around the house, that works very well.
    Ham radio is one of the last refuges for the experimenter/hacker.

    I do have my license. I got it in the spring. (Canadian here, so not part of the 700,000)
    I doubt my cheep Chinese handheld radio can reach the ISS. In fact I only heard it for about 30 or 40 seconds.

    Still cool.

    With a small handheld ham radio I was able to listen in on a signal from the international space station as it went overhead. If you don't know why that is cool, please turn in your geek card on your way out.

    I agree with you completely, and suggest also that if we as a culture continue down this path of protecting the little ones to the maximum possible degree.
    In a generation or so, we are going to have a lot of 18 year old people dying as soon as they stop being protected.

    No, a staggering amount of students clearly don't have the necessary understanding of the underlying material in upper level classes. Somehow they manage to copy or group-project their way through, and most will even graduate. Then they get to the workforce, and they have absolutely nothing to offer... *sigh*

    Most places call theses people Managers.

    I have always used the axiom that you don't put anything on the internet that you wouldn't want to show your mother, and your employer.
    For the record the reason I left was their constant messages telling me I have pending notifications. I did not. Every time I did log in they kept asking for my email credentials. Like hell they are ever getting those.
