    is that less than 100 years ago oceans were absolutely pristine... and now we know the dangers of our actions and yet the legislators and politics which should be our public servants and represent the global voice of the people are ignoring the situation and taking only weak and localized actions. Where are we heading? Waiting for a random natural bacterial mutation to solve all our problems? Is it still a matter of 'faith' with humans? 'Someone' / ' something' will take care of it... We should change radically remove all our current ruling class and do the best we can with our only Planet, cease this totally insane tribal 'economy' driven society and do only what's best to live in a balance with the environment. We are little men that can only build a fleet of massive solar powered cleaning boats if someone move some paper and numbers in a computer to allocate 'xxx' billions in some bank account. This is so insane.....

    I use a modern fashion editors for most of my scripting (python/js ) / programming activities, which is Sublime editor these days, and Aptana sometimes for more heavy tasks. Old style editors just slows me down....I'm weird i know...:)

    What is all this bullshit nitpicking crap I read? You are trying to say that the whole MF Sun is not enough to power this filthy planet-landfill of ours if we really WANT to? PV is not the best solution anyway, solar thermodynamic (Nevada Solar One , or Andasol alike) is easiest and less process intensive to manufacture.... Price is nothing, price is a value that we give to some piece of shit table game paper bills... we just need to DO the best thing....

    in a closed system like our planet there should be limitations, no more 'unlimited growth' 'unlimited profit' and so on.... companies size should be capped to a certain max size both as employees number and capital. And most importantly the richest manager/owner etc should not earn more than say 20-50 times the lowest wage, End of story...

  11. this thread spawn the best and brightest slashdotters indeed...... exactly when a military 'on duty' stops being a murderer in the eyes of victim's family members ? why is that alright? We totally condone murderers in so many situations, I say that the sole judge of the extent of the punishment should be the victim's closest family alone whenever it's possible.... Personally I would favor an incarceration only system.... death penalty is just some dark ages religious shit we should overcome asap....

    it is a relatively weak news but nonetheless it's sad to see how people cannot accept the fact that a lot if not all the greatest scientists, inventors and innovators had a rather mystical and deeply philosophical side in their lives... that side to side to rigorous mathematical papers there were much more 'unscientific' studies... it's the human attraction for what is hidden and mysterious that always lives in the minds of explorers and scientists are first and foremost explorers.... we are creating a simplistic view of science through washed out propaganda and childish mottos.... sometimes so-called geeks should read more carefully the biographies of the giants on whom shoulders they stand...

    where I grew up school discipline was plain and simple, u get a discipline note once , twice, third time you have to repeat the whole year even if your exams scores are fine. You keep doing stupid things nonetheless, you get expelled from that school, no if no but. Athletes? No differences at all. And during teaching not a fly moves...always. Actually once we complained to the school principal because we perceived that one teacher had slightly too soft/slacking attitude. That's how it should be imho. School is a place to learn and open your mind, professional multi-millions earning athletes don't bring anyone any benefit except as tv-party hooligans people entertainment.

    that's exactly where humanity should aim for....I don't understand why people sees it as some kind of Utopian dream. so where do we set the bar? mega-corporations shit and police state you like that better? Cos I don't. Work can be superfluous, people can spend their lifes learning skills and knowledge just because they like it. Others will find continuous work still interesting and appealing and I think most will do in fact, given that works will exclude the robot-able ones and the pointless destructive money-making scams.. You will still have private property and all that , of course.... It's all about spreading resources and understanding that someone else does not have more power just because his daddy has an oil corporation... We are born on the same planet, with same rights and same share of natural resources. Accumulation of wealth by some specific individuals is the worst crap that can happen...and leads to the worst behaviors and unbalances. I hope to see just the hint of this change during my lifetime... else we'll just be another shit race in a once-beautiful planet that we turned to shit as well with our nice 'live to work to make someone else rich and to buy the items we need to go to work'....how excellent... but I want to believe a change is possible...
