  1. No conspiracy on AT&T Calls Telecommuters Back To the Cubicle · · Score: -1, Troll

It's a big company. Deal with it. Oh, and good riddance.

  2. Please tell me the "departments" are going. on MIT Students Show How the Inca Leapt Canyons · · Score: 0, Offtopic

I don't see it here! As if we don't have enough smartass types here, it encourages them to no end. The removal of karma for +1 funny was the right step. Please eliminate the deparments!

  3. Double that on Two Companies Now Offering Personal Gene Sequencing · · Score: 1

Don't let the luddites and paranoid types get you down! This rocks. Great winter solstice gift, too!

  4. Cheap enough to use powers of two? on Hard Drive Prices Hitting New Lows · · Score: 2, Interesting

Something like 512GB makes it obvious that's 512GiB. And I obviously want 512GiB in my laptop.

You can express vagueness all you want (zo'e).

  10. Here's an idea on Call for a Presidential Debate on Science · · Score: 5, Funny

What sort of physical conditions (pressure, temperature) would have to exist to produce carbon from a mix of hydrogen and oxygen? ;)

  11. Could use Lojban on The Semantic Web Going Mainstream · · Score: 1

Lojban is unambiguous and much better suited to this than Spanish or English. Sure, you can make English as precise as possible--but most of written English is not. I don't see how you can have a semantic web when the semantics aren't clearly defined. Lojban, parsable like Java, makes it truly possible.

  12. Huh? on Nintendo Cracks Down on Copying Devices · · Score: 2, Insightful

Well I'd like to be able to play multiple games on the DS without swapping. What does that have to do with pirating? I think this is just flamebait.

  13. I don't get it. on World Series Ticket Sales Overwhelm Servers · · Score: 1

Is this some slashdot meme? Isn't Chess or Quake a sport anyway?
