Maybe they thought it was interesting because Micro$oft wants to charge all of those digital camera, and flash drive manufactures for using the FAT filesystem.
zmodem is high performance single streaming large packet size negative-acknowledgement only protocol - it fails badly in noisy or lossy style of environments.
Are thinking of Ymodem-g? I used Zmodem almost excluively when it was available and even in noisy enviornments. Zmodem can recover from errors. Rarely would anything short of losing the carrier stop the transfer and then you could restart the transfer where you left off. If you need a refresher on Zmodem go to www.omen.com

There would be interference on this end. When they are needing to communicate from a disaster area to the rest of the world and the USA is a big part of the rest of the world. Therefore if broadband over power lines causes severe interfence to HF, it would make it difficult to impossible to communicate.
I think they borrowed the idea from the TOS episode "The Deadly Years", where everyone that beamed down started aging except Chekov. When they are each given a shot of adrenalin the return to normal
Why was this moderated down to -1. I believe it is true and it is more on topic than the posts about the appostraphe question mark thing. It makes me regret letting my modarator points expire last weekend when I see this kind of moderation. I guess rather than post this I should email it to CmdrTaco but maybe somebody who cares will see it before it is moderated down.
Where do you get that there is two creation stories in Genesis?
How do they know something is 13 billion light years away?
If you get on your roof and point your telescope at something in town you know how far away it is because
you have been there.
If your point a telescope out in space at a point no onw has been too how do you know it's 13 billion light years away?
There is a link at the end of that darwin awards story that says that it was a hoax.
This reminds me.
I always wondered, why Slackware Linux is configured so that Ctrl-D doesn't log out?
It's not like it's easy to hit Ctrl-D by accident.
Actuall on the Commodores it was RUN/STOP + RESTORE.

4. Do not boot to Windows once (at home, forced to at work)
The best way not to boot Windows is not to have it installed. I haven't had Windows on my computer in about 15 months.
If I could find a good deal on another computer I might put windows on one to control my PRO-92 and PRO-2052 scanners.
6. Get a sick stereo (Krell and B&W).
I guess that is supposed to be slick.

Since Taco, Etal are debian fans it's no surprise this hasn't been modded up. But it's true.
Is this a troll or did someone hijack the domain? I was redirected to http://goatse.cx. Gross!
I submitted this story last night but didn't get any credit for it.

I've seen the extended version of Dune on VHS at Sam Goody.
