Anyone who looked at the source code of the site could see that the credit card information input fields were not inside the form and therefore were not submitted.
There is even a comment in the source that says it was done that way on purpose.
I am not sure if this is how they measure, but Google makes some tools for site owners to check speed and it would be logical that they use something like this. http://code.google.com/speed/page-speed/ (Similar to YSlow)
Also, Google Webmaster Tools has a Site Performance section (under labs) which may have something to do with this.
That said: Avast Free has always required you to register. I have been using it for years and recommend it to all my clients. In Avast 5, the registration process is easier than ever.
Again, not sure about what OP is running, but my Hyper-V instances all automatically pause when the server receives a shutdown signal from the battery.
At a hospital in the Washington, DC area which uses this system, a friend of mine needed a baby-anti-theft bracelet from the next nurses station. It took 12 minutes to get there through the tube system, in which time someone could have walked over and gotten it 6+ times
Doing something like this (showing different content by user-agent) is against Google's terms-of-service and can cause your site to be removed from the index.
Google has said that each provider must figure out by itself how to implement this free view limit based on referrer./quote
If they're picky, they mightn't let hits from Google through but still allow the Google bot to index their pages. Change your User-Agent accordingly. In Firefox, go to about:config and change general.useragent.extra.firefox to Googlebot 2.1 and off you go (as Googlebot).

I am running pfSense on an 8 year-old PC with two network cards. It can gets throughput like that.
If you want ultra-low power, you can use the Embedded version of pfSense running off a CompactFlash card and then you will not have a hard-drive running.
If you actually check Verizon's plans, you will see that the $45 charge for "Exchange" is only on corporate accounts and is the same no matter what phone you get. (See http://www.gearlog.com/2009/11/personal_droid_data_will_cost.php)
If you are not on a corporate plan, you will only pay $30.
on the same day, the PDU for the D.C. Metro (subway and bus) communication system failed, leaving no communication for the bus system (including fair collection machines), leading to more travel trouble. Got all those conspiracy theorist wondering if they are related.
But food probably will not help with people's attention spans.
Usually, at a meeting with food, people will be distracted by the food, and once the food is gone, you will be back to the original problem.
What percentage of total computer users is represented by 10,000 computers, each with glorified spyware installed on it?
I manage many computers both in offices and homes and none of them have this monitoring software installed.
That could add up to 10% of this survey, potentially completely changing the end results.
Every Paypal customer received an email that says that there are updates to the terms of service. If you could not be bothered to read it, that is your problem.
I use a webservice that mointers the TOSs of companies whos' services I use to be alerted to changes.
You can easily use TOSBack.org to do this for many companies.
sorry: regulated
Exhibit A: OpenDNS

I mean in general ISPs can not be registered.
But once one is doing it, the rest will follow.
As shown by the recent Comcast - FCC ruling, ISPs can barely be regulated at all (and therefore can do anything they want).
In Server 2008 (maybe only R2), you can now use a flash drive, so that use is gone.
I use them for my music keyboard and some firmware updates (mostly from Dell) which still require them.

Not only that, I have seen some stores which actively promote that process (specifically for the Intermatic timers, I might add).

And it has been the symbol of world Boy Scouts for over 100 years. Will the NFL go after them too?

OpenDNS hijacks Google searches, which could be part of Google's motivation also.
Saying that Google is abandoning Gears is not 100% accurate as it has bad connotations.
Google created Gears to fill the void until browser makers would implement HTML5. Now that they are doing so, Gears is being retired.

At the company I work for we use the following scheme:
All computers are prefixed with COM to make them easy to find in lists
People who are "permanent workers"
most of these have been around for years and will be around for years to come
computer named with persons name
Computers for relatively temporary people (like customer service are named by location
example: COMCUSTSERV1, COMDESIGN21, etc.
