    Well i got a boost mobile phone with walkie talkie and unlimited everything for 50 a month i hook it to my lappy and get dial up quality internet with it where ever i have service i use goggle maps read /. etc. it drops calls like hell but old vm phone i went threw like 20 - 80 dollars a month now i don't have to be a how are you and what do you want type phone guy

    Of course i didn't RTFA but i know Debian derived distros can use popularity contest for some home users, if turned on but most large installations won't plus a lot of those machines will ether be counted once or not at all.

    i had an old dell running samba to my lappy on 7.10 when i did my upgrade to 8.04 samba was broken for months.I thought it was my laptop running lenny that was the problem but it was the Ubuntu samba non sense

    wait a minute are you using windows or red hat? you know most gnu/Linux systems relies on mime type meta data and what not. Plus vlc was cool about this time last year but it hasn't been updated for a while. use mplayer instead. it even has a gui for you "finger pokers" plus great real player support.

    what are you smoking? some companies you might as well have a static ip, i have cable internet with a st Louis based isp and have had the same ip for over a year (cease and desist order from last year confirms this.) i've tried to get a new ip but there dhcp always gives the same ip

    you could try the developer repos(whatever they are called or 8.04 beta or whatever personally if you are having this much difficulty i would wait for 8.04 and then see how the binary drivers do with new kernel new vers
