It is actually possible to install patches without running headfirst into WGA.
Infact there are TWO ways:
When choosing mode of autoupdate choose the one that requires you to choose which patches to download and install, WGA is one of the Security patches you uncheck it and it goes away forever.
Have security patches installed in redistributed form, they are available from MS or even torrent sites
Meet NTFS, it has this thing named SiS for Single Instance Storage.
There's a service known as the SiS groveller, it scans your files and links them if they are duplicate, it does that for parts of your files aswell.
Then don't have em in Zero-G , Spinning parts of the ship etc, if it's too hard to build it here make it so a part of the ship "expands" once in orbit.
There, no zero-G no viral problems!
