Book stores should be able to let you fully browse any book or magazine on your reader while you are in their store and click on a buy now button to allow you to walk away owning it. If you leave without purchasing the item it should no longer be available on your device. Barnes & Noble could do this with their nook and it would draw digital readers into their stores. They could co-op with private book stores and allow this in their shops too.
Just a thought...
I work at an airport in the St. Louis, MO area. We had a customer that left a car in the parking lot long term and rabbits chewed through his entire wiring harness. Other vehicles that sat long term have had similar but not as severe problems. Now we know why.

Up until their catch up preshow last night I wondered how they would tie up all the loose ends but then I realized I was over thinking it. The ending was obvious and would eliminate the need for any explanations. The entire six seasons were Jacks hallucinations brought about by his death. This has been done before, the movie "Jacob's Ladder." That was a 2 hour movie not a 6 season tv show.
As another post in this story says (and I totally agree), one of the biggest problems in our current form of government is a lack of involvement in and lack of importance placed on our democracy.
First, not sure what country you are from but America is not a democracy and never has been. It is a democratic republic, there is a difference.

The iPods, Xboxes and PlayStations were never meant to be a "tool of empowerment" but a rather "a form of entertainment", To confuse that fact shows how out of touch he really is. The iPad is a tool, how one uses it defines what it is a tool for. This from a man who cannot live without his blackberry.
Aircraft navigation equipment still uses them. Pilots load data into their older GPS systems with them. The navigation equipment is still up to date but updating to CD or USB input would cost $10,000 to $15,000. So, pilots get dozens of floppies and spend an hour or more a month updating their navigation data.
I thought of a solution that would hold M$ and Hardware Vendors responsible and provide restitution to their victims. Force M$ and the vendor to provide XP downgrade disks WITH proper drivers to their victims.
I would be satisfied with XP working on the two computers, 1 desktop and 1 laptop, that I was provided only Vista for. Neither have drivers that are XP compatible. A steep discount on the Windows 7 would be a nice gesture too. Win7 is faster on my laptop but the headphone jack stopped working.

Using the scientific method is it possible to create life where there was no life? Is it possible to document the process?
How did "life" come from the primordial soup. Where did it come from. You have to assume that life was already there. You have to take that by FAITH. Without that giant leap of faith the Theory of Evolution falls to pieces.
Because ID is not science and has no place in the science classroom. It's about trying to bring pseudoscience up to the same level of credibility as science.
Because you cannot prove it it cannot have happened that way?
If neither can be proven they are both theories. Teach them both and leave it to the student.
To answer your question, evolution is of course still occurring, just as the continents are still drifting.
That solves everything, its still happening because you say so. Glad we have that cleared up my questions are all answered because you say so.
It takes as much faith to believe in evolution as it does in ID. Neither has been proven.
If ID is so preposterous why are the proponents of evolution so against it being taught. From the text of the intro to this, it claims that it would "could allow Intelligent design to be taught in schools." It doesn't say anything about it mandating it be taught or that it would taught exclusively.
Why try to shut down discussing alternative views? Isn't evolution still a theory? That I know of it has not been proven without a doubt.
What makes me really wonder is why, somehow evolution stopped before man knew it was happening. There is micro-evolution, within a species that is still evident today but One species becoming another is that evident. Dogs may evolve but they are still dogs. Through enviromental changes and selective breeding dogs change but they are still dogs.
If it were truly a series of random events that occurred over "billions and billions" of years why is it not still occurring. Offspring of a species is always within the same species.
"Instead of punishing students with detention they are tagging them with electronic monitoring devices."
This is misleading. Reading this, I thought they were talking about staying after school or missing a break. The NYT's article is talking about "Juvenile Detention" or locking the kids up. Wearing a locating device instead of going to jail is a pretty good deal. If you don't like it ATTEND SCHOOL! If thats too harsh for you and you don't want to go to school drop out and resign yourself to a life of crime or sucking the teat of the welfare system.
Saying that this is "reminiscent of slave chains" is simply assinine. Slave chains were put people against their will by neighboring tribes. This is being done as an alternative to being put in JAIL for breaking the law. I see a difference there.
I would also suggest also requiring those sentenced to this also be required to do community service to help off set the cost...Or would that also be compared to slavery.
I would rather be provided drivers to downgrade to XP than any refund rebate. They deliberately do not supply the drivers to keep you from abandoning Vi$ta. I own a license for XP, just let me use it!
RTA! The entire point of the Transition Car/Plane is that Licensed Pilots can drive to an Airport, unfold the wings and fly to another airport, fold up the wings and drive around town. Would not be any different than driving to an airport, flying somewhere and renting a car. You just don't have to rent the car. There would be no different impact on cities that there is currently. It would be marketed at a very narrow market. Still won't be economically feasible.
The designers must not be familiar with either the United States D.O.T. rules governing cars on the road OR the F.A.A's rules governing manufacturered aircraft. IF such a car/plane could be manufactured to meet both sets of standards it would NOT be under $150,000 or anywhere close. A kit sold in Popular Mechanics for $150,000 maybe, but my guess is that a manufactured version would top $1,000,000 by the time it meets all the regulations, is certified and has product liability insurance on it.
For the foreseeable future, flying cars are the stuff of comic books and cartoons....

Did they censor V.C. Andrews "Flowers in the Attic" Series. That entire series was about incest.

Must be a slow news cycle. "Snow World" and its use in burn therapy was covered in WIRED over 7 years ago? See: http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2001/03/42084
