Odd. The only two sites I've run into in a long time that required flash -

Square-Enix has some sites. Oooh, "big" loss there.
Oracle's support site that they just recently replaced - and there was a flash-free alternative that they tried to avoid telling people about.

Many video sites now have non-flash based players (H.264) too.

Honestly, flash isn't the big needed thing it once was. Hopefully it continues to fade into oblivion.

Actually, I think they call it GNU/Linux because the userland utilities that come with the kernel (i.e. bash, ls, cp, tar, etc.) are all the GNU built variants, rather than, for example, the BSD variants.

Regarding the detonating bit - even if there was an accident and the detonator were left on (we'll ignore malice for the moment), it'd be more likely to prevent the bomb from ever exploding "interestinglyl" without some serious extra work, than to make it accidentally explode. One of the things I learned in first year physics - in general, once uranium gets to critical mass or above, it explodes quickly, and without a lot of external pressure, set up "just right", the explosion won't be enough to do more than destroy a small room. In such an accident, the detonator (itself a bomb), would do more damage, I think.

Probably more for the GP, but even so, many tools can be used for malevolent purposes, does that mean we shouldn't have them around for the good purposes? Do you think that just because someone came up with it for a benevolent purpose, if they hadn't nobody would have come up with it for a malevolent purpose later.

I wouldn't mind an improvement for the interface of the desktop switcher widget, but aside from that, when you want something more than twm, but xfce is too big, WM is a nice middle ground.
