how, are they ddos-ing it, if they request things it will only distribute the content to more nodes, does Toad want kiddy-porn to spread, or is ths irony flying over my head?
i don't know so much about hardware at that level, but is it not usefull for doing a scaled down prototype, and does it really need to be as precise as a GeForce, could it sacrifice precision for getting more done in parallel fashion?
I need to take some hardware courses so I can play with this sort of thing
was there not some study that showed that if you use local peers instead of "some random" peer it was a win/win situation both for the ISP and the "consumer", just some while ago on slashdot.
tried the demo, needed windows, funny thing one of the demo thing was "Elephants Dream". Looks like the application is a.NET thingi with a mozilla extension, havent really looked to close, only run strings on the setup
having installed LFS twice I must say that was not so hard, the guide is pretty well written.
Installing gentoo was not so hard either, the install guide for gentoo was also very good, but trying to manage a gentoo install and keep it usable was at some times pretty hard challenge.
that evening when I was supposed to format one partition but I missed the number-key and hit enter, and all my LFS partitions got destroyed. I cried my self to sleep (maybe 200 h of work down the drain)
this is my view of things:
gentoo was the cool new thing, the hacker's playroom, then people actually started using it as a normal distro, the playroom got smaller. I have used it as base for doing testshots at specialized distros for embedded systems catalyst was/is one of the tools i really liked, so using gentoo to do specialized distro is one of its greatest strength. Biggest weakness, well if you try to use it as a normal distro then you will get constant breakage, update world usually for me meant fixing one or two things by hand, at some times it was fun and I did learn a lot, at some times you just want it to work. Gentoo was fun while I was unemployed, now I work and when I get home the last thing I want to do is fix some freaking linkage problem
true, I moved to another city to get a good job. top floor, view over the runway (but not to close), share a big room the size of a mid-sized apartment with five other people, we have our own lunch area, everybody has dual-screen setup, all computers are in a sound prof room with kvm:s and extenders out to the working place, windows in three directions, doing simulator/viz software for a fighter jet, and we are treated like individuals and not as cogs in the machinery, and if we get bored with what we are doing transferring within the company to other positions is encouraged, or take on small side projects that you find interesting(within reason)
I think you'll find that it's part of the American culture to assume that they got where they are on their own, under their own steam by the sweat of their own brow, and that the rest of the world is a bunch of useless incompetent fools who blunder along blindly. Kind of the same attitude that teenagers have about their parents and grandparents. Not having the slightest clue what it was like for them and that they haven't actually gone through *anything* without someone holding their hand yet. so when some american(i dont remember who, berfore iraq war) said "old europe" it was a expression of that "attitude". the problem is that this teenager has all those weapons and is in need of real good old fashion beating.
And like all teenagers they think they can fix all the worlds problems, almost cute
I think you can can have programs look for the channel logo, and if it's not showing then it is a commercial, someone with more experince in image processsing maybe can tell if it's doable. Getting TV makers to put this kind of technology inside TVs that another problem, and then most channels will leave the channel logo on under commercials too:-( .
The second if Irfanview, of course, which is the best image viewer on any platform and has been since the 90s please give the URL were I can download irfanview for Linux, BSD and beos
Letting the users do some stuff doesn't mean not running AV / backup. Of course, one can hack the machine to disable all of this.. but honestly.. these people can be fired too;) when that is discovered it is usually a little to late
having been on both sides, I hate not being able to change my xorg.conf self, but as a administrator i know how that could be used for getting root(besides just fucking it up), but having to call IT dept three times before they get my multi monitor setup right, is annoying.
Not being able to install latest version of gcc and libraries is annoying but if every developer was allowed to, we would get a hell when it comes to integration builds, and massive dependencies (must have 3 diffrent version of boost and every version of QT).
and Windows is even more hell both as a developer and as a sysadmin, thank god they have missed reg.exe so I can still edit the registry. and try to have more than one version of MS studio installed and MS support sucks.
And everybody who has installed ubuntu at home thinks they know both solaris and SGI too, and last you have somebody like me, oldtime sysadmin turned developer those are the most dangerous.
firefly and tobacco plant, taking gene's from firefly and putting them in tobacco plant and you have a glow in the dark tobacco plant, i think this was done 1986 first time for transferring gene's from a animal to a plant and in USA
not exactly the same as those in parent but it was really weird back then
one thing that irritated me with MCSE was the different terminology that you had to learn, cant remember any good example, have tried to forget everything I learn't in my MCSE course, and I dont remember anything about licensing.
is it still the same testing rules that says you should be videotaped while doing the test?
I've had 3 laptops, never ever needed NDISWrapper. but all my machines have been IBM:s. and yes i would complain to the mfg if it was not working. so that's 1 person.
but maybe it is up to us somewhat more knowledgeable to make sure people around us don't by crap.
I stand corrected, what i was thinking was in his distribution of the kernel it is his choice if he wish to include NDISwrapper or not. and as IANAL what I say does not matter, but my opinion is that NDISWrapper should not have access to GPLONLY symbols.
and as another poster here said maybe it would be good to dump NDISWrapper so we could start working on getting drivers under GPL license, is it so hard for people that read slashdot to only buy hardware that has open drivers? I have never ever needed to use NDISWrapper.
this is funny, most of the time I get the impression that Linus is NOT a "GPL natzi", but at times like this you could mistake him for RMS.
but it is his tree so if he says it is not GPL compatible then it's not GPL compatible.
for the record, I have to agree with Linus on this one (but thats me and who am i).

I worked on one way back in 1998, it was used for scanning teeth.
not the one I work on but newer and smaller http://www.sciencedaily.com/videos/2007/0805-digitial_dentist.htm

happy to be at services, then I tell them they obvisuly has a very bright child, should try to get the child to take some computer classes.

A good tester saves me a lot of embarrassment, and that will save me costumers = revenue

so by adding bloat to my applications i can make them zip them self
yeah, the important question is will they run on Linux
