A icon based on the talking head from the very first Mac commercial would do nicely. His speech, well, speaks for itself:

Today, we celebrate the first glorious anniversary of the Information Purification Directives. We have created for the first time in all history, a garden of pure ideology. Where each worker may bloom secure from the pests of contradictory and confusing truths. Our unification of thoughts is more powerful a weapon than any fleet or army on Earth. We are one people, with one will, one resolve, one cause. Our enemies shall talk themselves to death and we will bury them with their own confusion. We shall prevail!

Why do we find pleasure in others' pain? Why do we laugh when Wile. E. Coyote has an anvil dropped on his head or when Dick Van Dyke trips over the ottoman? Simple: more resources are available to us when others are taken outta the game.

You've got it wrong. We find it funny because we emphasize with their predicament. Nearly every time Wile fails he looks at the camera with pleading eyes before he gets clobbered. Even as little kids we're thinking "Oh, I know what thats like LOL." Conversely you can't root for a character that wins all the time; who didn't want Wile to finally catch that fucking road runner? (Same goes for Dick Van Dyke. You'll note in later seasons he practically dances around the ottoman instead of tripping on it, and we're quietly happy for him.)

The problem would be that if the United States - the self-appointed benchmark of responsible nuclear weapon policy - demonstrated a peaceful use for nuclear detonations, it would punch a major hole in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which supports non-proliferation of nuclear weapons AND the right to peacefully use nuclear technology. You'd have North Korea arguing it wants to use nuclear detonations for excavation, that sort of thing.

I'd think that having his remains orbit the Earth Scotty-style would do as a fitting tribute. But this does raise the issue of "whose remains are they anyway"? The cathedral that the remains were originally buried and now reburied would probably have the final say on the launch, and its doubtful they'd go along. It's a little vexing that the church that condemned him in the first place essentially still control his remains five centuries on.

  22. We keep hearing the same thing over and over on Too Many College Graduates? · · Score: 1

Our public schools are inadequate and don't teach our kids the basics. Kids are so overwhelmed with school, homework, and extracurricular activities they don't have a chance to just be kids. Kids waste their time playing Nintendo and sexting each other. Our schools are grossly underfunded. Our teachers are overpaid. Teachers are heroes. Teachers are unionized civil servants who barely have the skills to flip burgers. All schools nowadays only focus on college prep and not marketable job skills. Colleges have lowered the entry bar because schools don't hone basic skills. College students don't learn anything, they just waste time and party. College students are under such pressure to get good grades they're taking prescription drugs to help them focus. You need a college degree to get a good job. Some of the best people in the company don't have college degrees. Most of what you learn in college is useless. A college education ensures you're able to think. Colleges do a lousy job in teaching problem-solving skills. College students and their parents get buried in debt. A degree from an affordable college isn't worth the paper its printed on. The government is spending too much money on higher education. We're so being other nations in the number of college grads its embarrassing.

Obviously there's only one conclusion to draw.
