  1. What really happens... on Most Movies On P2P From Insiders? · · Score: 1

..Is people download the movie, see what shiat it is and don't bother paying to see it.

I read an article a while back where a movie exec was blaming text messaging for spreading negative views about a movie faster than it used to spread by word of mouth alone.

The faster people learn what crap a film is, the less money it makes, and since Hollywood has clearly decided that quality is a dirty word (Gigli) anything that cuts into the "All they know about the film is they hype" phase can be the difference between making and losing money on a flick.

I've heard only some kernel versions are covered. Would it be possible to remove kernel code to eliminate the SCO property and thus have a Linux version that did not incur additional license fees? If so, what code would be involved? Does or will SCO make similar claims regarding MAC OS X or any of the BSD variants? The whole issue is very murky at the moment, and we're looking for some clarification on the matter.

I'd like to draw a distinction between being dumb, lacking a skill and being uninformed.

When I buy a car, I do my research and buy a low maintenance car with good safety ratings. That's research. Failing to do research is dumb.

The fact that I NEED to do research is because I'm uninformed regarding the current stats on cars. However, I'm not going to learn the skill of repairing my car, I'll instead find someone who will do a good job for me.

In the example in the article, people are failing to do research into the problems involving potential printers.

I take my car to the mechanic because I lack the skill to do it myself. However, I do my research to find a reliable mechanic who will do a good job and not rip me off.

Having someone else paint your house for change your oil isn't dumb, it's because you don't have the time or interest in doing it. We pay people to do the things we don't want to do. That said, slimy painters and incompetent "Quicky" oil change locations stay in business because people don't do the research necessary to find someone better.

Failure to do research is, in my opinion, the reason Ford stays in business.

Everyone is raising all sorts of examples of situations where having a "Soft Wall" would be a very bad thing, and would cost lives.

I suspect Boeing is going along with this either because of a PHB who can't see past the end of his nose, or because they know it is too dangerous to implement but have to investigate it anyway for political reasons.

That or the article's claims of Boeing's involvement are overstated, inflated and limited to "They sold us some specs that are avaialbe to the general public."

And let's not get started on what being inside a "soft Wall" would do to properly values, and what being in the likely "Tried to hit the soft wall but ended up here" zone would do to the value of your property.

And who wants to be a whole slew of the wealthy will ante up to get their homes listed as being in a "Soft Wall"

And what about an out of date "Soft Wall" database that prevents a small plane from landing in a newly constructed airport?
