Ever heard of /dev and suid?

Consider a CD with Rock Ridge that has device files (/dev/hda comes to mind) with ownership to a non-root user. A user can get around/dev/ permissions by doing this if it's mounted without nodev. Also consider a suid executable owned by root. A user can run it and get root privs unless the nosuid option is set. When one user can mount as another user (as supermount would do) or with the wrong options, that's a security hole. Secondly, suppose root is copying stuff off a CD or wants to access it remotely. Do we let joe user umount it by pressing eject?
It may not be patented, but it has copyright.

Bach will testify that his modular version of Windows was "robust and reliable," Kollar-Kotelly said, citing the states' submission.
Why wouldn't anybody want this modified version of Windows XP Embedded instead of Windows XP Pro? It's robust and reliable, unlike the other versions of XP:-)
After the trail period, where Sunland would sue the first four Flightships (each with a capacity of only six passengers, to carry tourists to and from Sunland's resorts; the company hopes to invest a further five million dollars to get bigger Flightships with a capacity of 40 passengers.
What is a trail period? After they're done with the trial period, they're planning to sue the ships! I never knew one could sue Flightships. Maybe they meant use.
The links assume the existance of "c:\text.txt" and "c:\winnt\winmine.exe." Change these paths to valid text files and executables on your computer. Then tell us what happens.
Mac tried the computer inside the lamp. Not willing to allow mac to claim the world's most pointless computer design, they created the switch inside the teddy bear.
"In the end, Microsoft persuaded the Parliament to continue using Windows NE for 5,000 new PCs." I thought the bastard child of NT, ME, and AOL was XP, not NE. Has anybody heard of windows NE? Windows New Edition?
I think the file would only get larger with prebuilt modules. If there were not prebuilt modules, the compile would only take longer. Maybe you should try to make it smaller || compile faster || get a new computer before adding to it's work.
I still have an apple II program that converts text to speech (and outputs to the PC speaker). It fits on a 5.25" floppy and its pronounciation was better than some of the more modern TTS engines. Sure, it choked on words like pneumatic, but it was cool to have a TTS engine run in real time on the 2 MHz processor.
You said, "CNET/ZDNET, eTesting Labs, eWeek, PC Magazine, and PC World." Do you realize that your statement simplifies to "CNET/ZDNET?" They are all the same company!
I have a proxy / ad-filter which allows me to edit the browser strings. Almost nothing works! The only one that works was copied from IE6. Others I have tried include Mozilla, Opera, Lynx, and random letters. As of 11:30 PM EST, I was unable to access msn.com without using the IE browser string. Since when did they back down? Another thing too: block IE from accessing slashdot for a day. It will really screw up those microsoft censors looking for a lawsuit over some comment moderated to -1. Better yet, make up a fake page!
Can you tell me what the dimensions of the ads will be? How about the server hosting them? I need to keep up my record consecutive slashdot days without any ads. Time to add to my junkbuster filters.

From the bottom of "Read more here": "Note: The objects pictured above are part of The Franklin Institute's protected collection of objects. The images are © The Franklin Institute. All rights are reserved." Franklin didn't patent his invention, but his heirs don't appear to share that sentiment.

Did they install the computer in Alaska for the overclocking ability? Just imagine how much one could overclock that in the winter.

I really don't see how they are protecting any trademarks here. Why would anybody want to pretend to have a name as bad as KPMG?
Go here for the WHOIS lookup. Have fun trying to get anything more than a domain name out of this guy in Armenia.
