    I think it's not so much what they did but how they handled it.

    The PR aspect of how it was all done was pretty poor and much of the anger towards them could have been mitigated or redirected.

    I disagree with you on the realism aspect.

    There is lots of times when one may not want something to be realistic looking, and that does not necessarily make it "bad".

    A Scanner Darkly for instance, they could have saved a lot of work on making the movie by not rotoscoping it. However I think it worked well for the movie.

    Not to get too off topics, but that's something I never quite got.
    As society gets larger and more spread out there are certain services such as the USPS/Fire dept that will become a nesesity reagrdless of their bottom line.

    How would a GPS not qualify as prior art?

    It shows you a map and surrounding area based on where device is, or area entered. One could argue even the very early military models which had Long, Lat and a compass could qualify.

    What about posts made to /. via a company computer, does my username then transfer to the company since I used a company computer?

    From the article it doesn't sound like the full two million went to GP, only about €500,000, which when you consider GP is a world wide organization sponsoring TV ads during the Superbowl (Which are what, $3 million per minute) and other major events, that's not very much. From reading around it sounds like they raised over €100 Million in just last year.

    In the vast majority of cases a fine levied by the government is paid to the government.

    "EDF has also been ordered to pay half a million euros (£428,000) in damages to Greenpeace."

    Two million would be nothing, probably came out of the "Settlement fund".

    Can you cite where the copyrights were transferred to them?
    As I recall that was the whole point of the issues to begin with, was that they were suing without ownership.

    Do the scanners really pose a health threat?
    Aren't they non-ionizing radiation so it wont affect your cells?

    I know some people out there see Radiation = BAD, and don't take it beyond that.

    Was the card stolen? Was he aware it was going to be used for such a purpose?
    Its not hard to build a duplicator and when you hand your card off to a waiter he could easily swipe it on the duplicator and clone it onto a blank.

    Yea, at the time everyone was trying to blame the Anti-Vaxers but Immigrants will likely play a part in it. I Would interested in seeing the local populations of the infected areas.

    Yea we've already seen land that was fertile become barren as the climate has changed; how rainfall has progressed away from some areas and towards others. So we of course try to adjust to this change.

    Global Warming was never an "ideal" name for the phenomenon.

    Increased temperatures can have drastic change on the weather around the world; from harsher winters to changing wind patters, even causing fertile land to become barren and vise versa.

    I think that's part of the issue.

    Publishers and Labels don't do enough to warrant having such a large share of the pot. Sure they give access to venues and other places, but they often times have paid to have exclusive deals with such places.

    I think there would always be a place for a music label, but not how they have it setup now.

    Yea, you cant just think debt as in CC debt, debt is pretty much anytime you owe someone something.

    If I eat a meal and they bring me a check, that check is a debt against me.
