The only thing the "Technology in classrooms" crowd accomplishes is addicting kids to technology. They don't think any better. They don't solve problems any better. All they do is become better consumers. Of tech toys. You're seeing the results now in kids who can't read a map, dial a frigging phone or think without a device in their paws that allows them to "friend" somebody. P.S. I've been a IT Director for various organizations for over 20 years - I'm no Luddite but neither am I a shill for the industry.
Agreed! I remember when Chrysler tested a turbine car in the early 60s. It was VERY cool. I saw one drive into a parking garage in Detroit when I was little and thought that it was the future. Of course it was noisy as all get out, stunk, and according to the driver, not very efficient!
This reminds me of when the Nuclear Power Industry, specifically Detroit Edison, referred to radiation as "Sunshine Units" at their cuddly exhibit at the Michigan State Fair back in the early 60s.
And for that reason alone I won't get it. I love the idea but more than sick of "edgy" for its own sake. Mebbe I can come up with a new business that creates a case it will slide into allowing it to fit on everyone's furniture.
Exactly what I was wondering. I seem to recall that postal service in London over a century ago was provided several times a day. I think here in many parts of the U.S. too. I'll betcha the service isn't that good now nor will this techno-crap improve it.
I agree with you especially since it seems that the news "readers" (I don't even think of them as reporters any longer) are so cozy with those thye are supposed to cover. They all attend the same parties and star-f*** each other.
Fuck that AND the gubmint. Private sector sticks with a machine longer than that.
Oh, that's right. You aren't accountable to anyone...you're the gubmint.
don't welcome our new Google overlords.
So in another words we only have to wait a few months for the project to resume.
by enjoying the video that demonstrates killing kids who don't agree with you!

I love a good fiction story.
I'm gonna become a farmer.
...is that anyone can write apps that will suck the remaining privacy we have out of us and sell it to the highest bidder.
"Sophistication" and "Twitter" in the same sentence.
Yep.

Yep.

"Jaguar has developed a hybrid car that runs on gas turbines."
How many miles-per-gas-turbine does it get and how many gas turbines are needed to fill the tank?
I'm sure he will salute the new Handicapper General.
Here's one:

I also believe there was a reference in the book "We Almost Lost Detroit".
Agreed. I'm still waiting for a "smartphone" that is smart enough to work as a phone without dropping calls.

So. Ahhhh....
Hmmm..... Errr......
Where *can* I find "MyGirlfriendThreeMenSomeMudAndABaseballBat.avi"?

I read the last line in the summary as:
"I hope there is live flogging from the conference."
Which would fit.
Is that the same kind of bullshit as "edutainment"?
If you look at this picture from the site you'll see the trail isn't straight.

This is a UFO. Finally, proof.
