    The fact that the genes are identical does not mean they're of the same origin.

    I've got little knowledge on the topic but I'd guess it's a matter of numbers.

    The larger the identical combination, the more probable is their common origin.

    I don't see anything wrong with that as long as they're not playing first-person shooter games, violent games, games with a lot of sexual or drug content.

    It is an important reminder of just how ignorant most technology users are of the very tools they're using.

    I would have no idea of how to fix the airplane I took this weekend.

    I wouldn't even try fixing the elevator I've just used.

    I don't think I'd be able to repair 95% of possible problems with my car.

    It is an important reminder of how far we got from the middle ages, where one man could know most about all technologies he used.

    But you can maintain a connection from a different computer than yours and another one from that to yours.

    A one bot botnet.

    Do smart people deserve to be governed like idiots just because they're outnumbered by idiots?

    Everyone will be always governed by the most powerful.

    The ways of getting power change, and intelligence is still not the best. It doesn't give a man as much power as the ability to maniputale the masses.

    If you want smart people to not be governed by masses manipulators. use your intelligence to change the previous fact. Make intelligence more power providing than mass control.

    Examples:
    - Create a method of mass murder that can only be avoided by intellect. A russian national lottery of some sort.
    - Replace masses with robots.
    - Move to a space capsule, extracting yourself from society.
    - Join a group of equally intelligent people, get into a protected bunker and kill everybody else. Preferably with a short lived attack. Then, repopulate the Earth.

    If you want to understand why Apple does what they do, don't put yourself in the end-user's shoes. Try putting yourself in Apple's shoes. End-users need to be taken care of to limit "accidents" and poor experience. That's a fact of life when geeks deal with end-users.

    So your argument is that Apple is just being correctly managed by BOFH?

    OS breakdown here would be interesting, too.

    27/04/2010: The day slashdotters discovered they were all connecting with windows using IE6 and lying about just about everything. The page was closed and replaced with a porn site, for ever and ever.

    Seriously. Cleaner air is bad for the planet? Shut up. As someone who has asthma, this pisses me off. I like breathing, thanks. Stop wasting time blaming the Clean Air Act and look at practical ways to cut carbon emissions in ways that don't knock us back to the stone age.

    This will probably sound wrong, or at least politically incorrect but... Cleaner air can speed global warming while still killing everyone who suffers from asthma.

    Natural facts don't usually care about consequences on human health.

    So, I think you're point should be more oriented towards something like: "The fact that cleaner air, which we need, may have a cooling effect, should only make us fight much stronger against the original sources of the warming itself."

    How about software prima donnas that think they are too good to make mistakes and say QA just gets in their way? I would say this is far more likely due to a software guy skirting the checks rather than there be no checks in place for an established company like McAfee
