    What kind of shitheap cars are you driving around in? With the exception of truck tires, I've never seen a tire shop carry tires that weren't rated to 100mph minimum across the entire catalog. I've also never seen a vehicle equipped from the factory with trim or body pieces that would come off at 90 mph. Wtf man get a decent vehicle and ditch your rolling scrapheap.

    To counter your posts: I've never had a single driver problem or failure with ATI cards, even in Linux (several distributions across several major release revisions). To top it, they have always had superior image quality compared to Nvidia, regardless of the back-and-forth of performance lead.

    I've been in the same situation that blair1q has been in; you submit bug reports and they don't do a damn thing, so you have to work around their bugs or not release a decent product to your clients.

    Sheesh, get a new tampon. Science doesn't try to disprove the existence of any god; the whole process/ideology is about making improvements in understanding of the world. God simply has no place in Science, because "God says so" doesn't allow for improvement on our models.

    PAE adds a 4 bit page table to the existing addressing scheme. This means that the 64GiB that is "addressable" with PAE is actually 16 pages of 4GiB. Since the PAE table is not part of the normal 32 bit pointers that a program uses, the program has to be written to chunk its data into 4GiB pages and know which page houses what data.

    tl:dr; PAE is not invisible, and only provides performance benefits when you need that much memory on one machine.

    Video encoding != video decoding. You can decode a video in parallel pretty easily. Encoding it can be parallelized, but the best results will come from a serial process.

    You'll still have performance hits locking the threads that read the read-only state. You can't safely update that information without making sure that its not being read.
