You see I'm from England and we talk a bit different.
So yes, I do say kill-o-meter
I'd prefer my 20 years in the computer industry to say more about me than how I pronounce the name of an obscure operating system.
and oh btw, the reason tunelling over HTTP works is because many desktops only have Internet access via an HTTP proxy rather than every desk in the company being NATed to the internet.
I'm guessing that marcelmouse was using that particular example to make a rock solid example of how to make a solid inference from trash based evidence. The problem with inference is that it is the mind of the surveyor creating the "truth".
The missing jewels were stolen from that room. The only person I am aware of that went into the room is you. Therefore : you stole the jewels.
a: "Hey, I brought you a porno mag" b: "er, thanks"
b throws it in the trash when a leaves
or
a: "son, this is a pornographic magazine and this is what I think of them"
a throws magazine in trash
or
a: "hey, look the printed some writing of mine in Playboy. Bah, I'm going to have to throw it in the trash in case someone finds it and thinks I'm into porno"
yeah, just going down one of the roads the science types try to walk you down.
As to whether it's true or not, who cares?

it's not the argument anyway.
Vegetarian / Vegan is irrational. It denies the reality that we, as humans, have evolved as meat eaters. There is no way to argue against that and it's stupid to even try.
The consumption of meat has given us big brains. With those big brains we have been able to find ways to survive which reduce the need to torture and kill other animals.
Any other route for life celebrates barbarism.
We can, and will, break free of the killing and live in the company of, not as the enemies of, our fellow creatures.
If you disagree then you are in the company of the Rawandan butchers or Pol Pot where the life of others is valueless and can be traded for power.
I've been vegan for 12 years. Many, many people have attacked me verbally [and physically] and yet not one convincing argument as to why I should pull the trigger has been suggested. Feel free to try and be the first.
then one would expect that you would read the frucking article and know that the guy says he didn't write it !
"One of the people I met while MUD'ing suggested that since I live in the UK, I could act as an agent for programmers who wish to remain anonymous but still want to release their software. "
Plus no-one's not cracked a program, someone has cracked the file DRM level so that data files can be converted.
It gets better.
"The way the laws are now, it's safer for someone to rape a 5-year-old boy and admit it then to crack a program."
Pure hype. Do you read the Daily Mail by any chance?
believe it or not people will not buy a console until they can copy games [or have someone do it for them].
This is not because people are inherently criminal [although the something for nothing element can't be denied] but because for most casual gamers £40 for a game they may only play once is just too much.
Here we have a folder with literally hundreds of copied ps2/xbox titles. 99% of them don't get played for more than a couple of hours on the day they got downloaded. [the pile of non-pirate games is larger than most people's collection too]
Only takes about a day to read the whole thing if you don't try and understand everything.
I was forced to do it in one sitting once when one of my colleagues got into difficulty and I was drafted in on a "this project was supposed to ship last week and Fred can't get to grips with Postgres, turns out his database skills were copy & paste" scenario and I've never looked back.

like prounouncing Linux Lienux
I call him Lienus, I call his program Lienux
I don't say Linnus, so I don't say Linnux
If you wanted me to say it differently you should have spelled it properly.
As for alternatives, http://plan9.bell-labs.com/plan9 will do just fine tnx

How can you make that huge leap of inference?
:
How is that not consistent with
a: "Hey, I brought you a porno mag"
b: "er, thanks"
b throws it in the trash when a leaves
or
a: "son, this is a pornographic magazine and this is what I think of them"
a throws magazine in trash

I'm not a loser either
because when I go to the shops I want them to have the things I want to buy.
I want to be stereotyped, I want to be classified.
