This is actually a GOOD thing. Keep in mind, there's a lot (at least, there used to be... but to some extent, there still is) a good deal of shady dealers out there who'd use overclocking as a way to sell "faster" for "cheaper". Of course, we know who's left holding the bag...
This has nothing to do with MS's domination-of-the-world (Copyright (c) 1975 Microsoft Corporation), and all to do with something (euphamistically) called Freedom. That's right, Freedom. Office Depot can sell what they want, at least, until they become a nationalized government sponsered vendor. As an aside, how is that different that a website only listing software that is FHS complient, or any other standard (let alone distro's like Debian (who I fully support, btw) who are extremely restrictive on what they package)?
This kind of thing happens all the time. Anyone who frequents the fatwallet or anandtech boards knows about it-- they will NEVER honor prices like this. That's why their disclaimer includes things like "not responsible for typographic errors." But it's still sometimes fun to order 1,000,000 when the prices are accidently posted as 0.00.
Here at Rutgers, we used to have a pretty nice surplus store... lots of great furniture for that first off-campus house/apartment, plus hundreds of P/I - P/III machines ripped from the lab. My best find - a perfectly good HP LaserJet IIIP for $20. Unfortunetly, now they've got this student running it who's a complete jerk-- aside from regularly stealing stuff for himself, he won't let you touch / test things-- he'll do it, and tell you if it works. Oh, but he's too busy to test most of the good stuff-- but no, you can't do it yourself. Oh well... time to start checking around again.
Ok, yes, I forgot to mention this. The second part is... but you can get quite a good idea of what's going on from the first three pages... though I also have to question a group who won't release results unless you pay...
No it's not. Michael, please do a little thinking before you post... just try it, perhaps? Hint: Weiter means Next (or continue)... I'm reading the story quite well now...
Does anyone remember RSA? Try looking up who some of those people were: hint: start by checking the Weizmann Institute in Israel for a guy named Adi S.
Do you even know what kind of racism you're supposed to have? Quick primer: If you hate all Jews/Israelis (KKK style), then you're on target. If you're one of the new breed, you claim to only hate israelis (since after all, some of your friends are Jews.. gotta use that line). Then, once you've "pushed them into the sea," you move on to all Jews.
Couple of points. I'll ignore the obvious anti-Semitimism (and anti-Israeli racism here), and limit it to factual points, leaving the semi-educated (or better) reader to filter out the drivel. Number one: fpp is David Irving, a well known holocaust denier, and the recent loser in a British libel case. Next, the article from ABC also states, "But the FBI told ABCNEWS, 'To date, this investigation has not identified anybody who in this country had pre-knowledge of the events of 9/11.'", which, of course, contradicts Irving's theory. Note that the use of Israelis and Jews as synonyms. Third, the Liberty is an interesting case. Yes, the Israelis attacked and nearly destroyed (then helped rescue_ a US ship that was mistaken for an Egyptian war vessel... but all recent non-conspiracy-theory-based investigations have concluded it was a mistake, no different from what happens in any war due to poor intelligence.
Oh, so it is *your* school now?:-) Well... It's my school too! The stupid applets don't like to run in IE 5 or 6, or Netscape Anything. I'm tempted to do a packet sniff on the damn things from a working browser and/or disassemble the code (yech) and write something that works.
BTW, drop by ruslug.rutgers.edu and check out ruslug/bookswap/ if you haven't already.:-)
Been to ruslug... drop by the front page site of the linuxcourse, see if you can find me. Or just jump through that window in the back of the EIT lab... my computer is the one in the middle next to the door;)
I have to say... this is one of the more clever "Remote Screen" hacks I've seen. Unlike digitized foosball tables or automatic drink mixing machine, it doesn't require any large investments in hardware, just a simple text LCD. And it actually looks kinda useful. Unfortunetly, NJTransit only makes schedules available in PDF, but... it's a cute idea.
On another note, my school (Rutgers) has a site called www.whereismybus.com (appears to be down at the moment), which uses a java applet to track buses in real-time. Only problem-- none of the bus terminals are within range of access points, and it takes a year to load (major java-bloat, methinks), but an interesting idea nonetheless.
Believe it or not, there's actually somewhat if a decent community up there. There's a private university (Yeshiva University), and housed on their uptown campus is an undergraduate school of 1200+, and two graduate schools.

It's amazing how the same stereotypes and racist attitudes always pop up together. In this case, Abdullah al-Muhajir, who is a convicted criminal (4 years in jail) is a Muslim, and we know who hates and kills all the Muslims... Israel! Yay... the Jews are taking over the world. *yawn*
Oh, and a few more points. First-- learn to spell. Second-- learn how to capitalize. Third-- shut up.

Basically, this guy modded three XBox's, put on Mandrake, didn't like the minimal compillation tools it came with, fixed it, and is done. He was impressed with the network performance... not because it was so good, but because he thought it had 10Mbps (it has 100). Ding-dong.. hello... anyone home? Read the specs!
No no no no noe! Don't _ever_ put 802.11b in a musical instrument... that would allow anyone with special listening equipment (a "sniffer", aka, "ears") to listen in ("intercept", aka, "hear") all of the data ("bits", aka "sound") being produced from within a certain distance ("range", aka, "earshot"). Just think what might happen if someone knows what kind of data (let's call it... say... music) your guitar is outputting.
P.S. This is a joke. I know there are good reasons to allow people to hear analog, but not record digital.
The ad I got on this page was from Intel... talking about how if your code is efficient (i.e., an example with a loop), you want an efficient processor. Interestingly, their example showed an unrolled loop as inefficient... on the keyboard, perhaps, but this is an old trick to optimize compilation.
You're wrong on two accounts. Number 1, if you really are some uberintelligent computer expert, you probably also don't make stupid impulse purchases online. Suppose you make triple the purchases of Grandma... no.. better yet...10 times. Do you still even approach the sheer numbers of the herd?

I assume that means you're familiar with Spell My Name With an S (as in Zebatinsky).

+1 to the boss for knowing who Dilbert is
-5 for spelling it is Delbert
Seriously... aside from the other obvious error of Memo's, it's actually a good piece.

Yes, but you didn't seem to notice that most people don't study Computer Engineering in the Computer Science department. ;)
