It makes me sad that the History Channel showed this whole concept on Modern Marvels long ago, and it is just now news on /. Everything was explained, demonstrated, and visualized and here we are talking about the concept without a reference other than an article that is outdated. Very sad day for me.

Then, we only have to worry and complain about the browsers not implimenting the standards...like always.

I know there are lots of people that simply hate MS for anything it does. Sure, they have lots of problems. But, I love Win 7 that I'm running on all of my computers. They got a lot of things really right this time. I also use MS Office for everything (I know, lots of OO comments to follow, fine...whatever). It would be great to have the OS seamlessly connect and use everything I'm doing on my laptop and desktops (win 7). If this works, I'll be upgrading my WM5, which still runs fine.

  7. As soon as you move a new exploit will come on New Adobe PDF Zero-Day Under Attack · · Score: 1

Seriously, as soon as any software becomes the primary program used, a new vulnerability would surface. Don't say that your pet program will not have any problems like Adobe does. As soon as a different program becomes the norm, it will be attacked and vulnerabilities will be found and exploited. Same would be true if Mac OS were to be 95% of the world's OS in use today. All the hackers in the world would be spending their every waking (and sleeping) moments finding the flaws and making havoc. Sure, this isn't fun to solve, but simply changing programs won't solve the real issue for everyone unless we want to flush away features or standards.

On a serious note, how many times a year do you think pilots needs their co-pilots and how many times a year would it have ended badly if a co-pilot were not present. If even once a year, does that make it a good investment to have flight attendant "Ms. Sally Anne" get a plane to the ground in a thunder storm when 150 lives are at stake.

We'll see this improve over time where costs will come down and eventually people that like to fly gliders, or hang glide or whatever (and have tons of money) will have items like this for play. We'll probably also have the technology begin to pop up in other areas, but military...I really don't think so.

I for one am looking forward to true A.I.

So many posts talk about the problems with all elected officials and promises and broken promises. If we develop AI with a mandatory integrity (truth and honesty), perhaps we can have a government run with AI? At least we will get what we vote for. We could avoid spin at every comment. Only downside might be giving over our children to fuel electricity consumption for the matrix.

In all of government, realize this: hope is what drives us to vote. In order to keep hope alive, an elected official does NOT have to deliver on all promises, just enough of them to keep hope alive. Obama is on the edge and perhaps falling behind in keeping enough promises to keep hope alive. He should have promised FAR less. Perhaps people wouldn't have been as disappointed.
