    if loser pays was the rule and the case had merit, the smart thing for companies to do is to settle quickly and not draw it out.

    The companies are already paying the bulk of the legal costs in their own lawyers. The only difference would be that they would sometimes get to dump those hefty fees on a consumer.

    Don't lose by not filing cases which lose.

    A bit idealistic to assume the correct person always wins. Especially when high-paid corporate lawyers are brought into the story.

    Big company hires big lawyers. You lose. AND you get to pay for their lawyers. Great plan.

    But if Intel doesn't release drivers for older versions of Windows, that probably won't matter. The GPU will be a Basic Display Adapter (aka VGA).

    Netflix still won't stream 4K to PC at all. So they are only supporting hardware DRM. Maybe they finally will on newer CPUs.

    Even Apple will cheerfully replace your old iPhone with a refurbished one with a new battery, for a mere US$79. Still cheaper than a new phone.

    That may be, but the Bluetooth standard is based around low-energy both for the transfer and the encoding/decoding. They would have to have dedicated silicon for whatever codec to not make this a huge battery drain.

    320Kbps MP3 is not supported by every implementation of A2DP, and certainly not likely to be supported by most bluetooth headsets out there. They most likely only support the mandatory SBC codec.

    Why not? Microsoft is following Apple's lead for OS release names now. It's all version 10 and either a point release or a build number.

    Or it never happened. I can pull up the page and with Chrome's inspector add the two options to the live HTML. Then I can take my own screenshot showing their new Android tablet as a category.

    There aren't even any graphics involved in this leak - just something easily, easily faked.

    Suicide is a victimless crime

    Considering how much antidepressant medication messes with your brain and severely increases suicide rates, I doubt that. A suicide under the influence of drugs is not victimless.

    Yeah, I know they're sorted alphabetically. But which is Version 8.x, 9.x, etc?

    In that case, the letter IS the version # for all practical purposes. You don't need to match it up to a number.

    Until they loop the alphabet in a couple of years. But maybe they'll increment the letter of the second word (Angsty Beaver?)

    Smartphones are a fad the same way that personal computing was a fad decades ago. Especially now that you can get a commodity Android phone for under $30.

    Addiction to repetitive games or apps is a completely separate issue.

  25. I guess I never have used hardware RAID personally, but I've always assumed that any info on the drives would be stored in NVRAM of the controller, not on the drive itself. And that a RAID1 should be 2 100% mirrors as if they were standalone drives.
